Jigger Cube

This is a pretty simple and impressive design for measuring ingredients for a mixed drink.

Normally I don't do a lot of mixed drinks. I stick with Martinis, Jack and Coke, and Scotch. However, not everyone at a party has such good taste, which is where this tool will come in handy.

Each side of the cube can be used to measure out 2.25 oz, 2 oz, 1.50 oz, 1 oz, 0.75 oz and .50 oz. allowing you to use it to make just about any mixed drink you want.

The cube itself is only 3" x 3", so it's easy to store.

You can find it for sale several places around the internet, usually for somewhere between $16 and $25.

The UNO 24 Watch

Normally I like watches that have a lot going on. The UNO 24 watch is pretty minimalist, but it caught my eye. Here's the details about it from the Watchismo site:

The UNO 24 one-hand watch gives the wearer the chance to approach time in a completely new and far more conscious manner. It presents the entire day at a glance. During the course of each 24-hour period, the single hand of the UNO 24 completes just one full rotation. The watch's special scale means that each time of day is indicated by an individual position of the precise hand.Even a fleeting glance is sufficient to show the wearer instantly and clearly how far the day has already advanced.

A delicate line marks the point of transition from one day to the next. The moment the watch hand crosses this line, the date jumps forward to show the new day.

In other words, the UNO 24 indicates the course of the day in analogue form:
The positioning of the watch hand on the dial corresponds to the position of the sun in the sky. What is more, the precise scaling means that the time of day is shown with an accuracy of around five minutes – after a short period of familiarization, the wearer will be able to tell the time even more precisely. The real strength of the UNO 24, however, lies in its simple yet impressive ability to present "an entire day at a glance" in a precise, analogue graphic form.

I feel the price is a bit much for this watch, which is $399, but if you're interested in one, you can hit the Watchismo site HERE.

Jaqk Wines

I have to give it to these guys for their marketing savvy at least. It's more than enough to hunt down a few bottles of this brand. Here's a little bit about the company from their site:

We are a new wine company. We’re also a new type of wine company.

In addition to being dedicated to making great wine,we’re also passionate about something else: play.

For us, play includes the excitement of testing our luck—and tempting fate—at games of chance. It also includes getting together with friends and enjoying each other’s company.

And a bottle (or two) of great wine can be quite helpful in that regard.

So, go ahead. Invite a few friends over, uncork a bottle of JAQK, and play a little.

Enjoy. And good luck.

Their wine has cool names like High Roller, 22 Black, and Solider Of Fortune. They'll also ship you a gift box that has four bottles of their wine in it, and a deck of JAQK Premier Edition Playing Cards. Nice.

The bottles run anywhere from $23 all the way up to $70, depending on what you buy. You can check out their site HERE.

Also, if anyone has had their wine, let me know if it's any good.

Omaha Steaks’ Private Reserve

The second I heard of this, the first thing I thought would be Omaha wanting to ship you some decent steaks, but that's about it. Turns out it's quite a bit more:

Imagine enjoying an elegant five-course dinner, featuring Omaha Steaks Private Reserve entrees, expertly prepared as you wish by our Executive Chef and impeccably served by our culinary staff to guests at a special dinner party in your own home.

There has never been an easier or more luxurious way to entertain family or friends in the warm and inviting atmosphere you call "home." All you do is select your custom menu and Omaha Steaks will take care of all the details - from start to finish. Our Executive Chef and his well-appointed staff will arrive at your home to prepare, serve and do all the clean up. Your only job is to dress for dinner.

The Ultimate in Luxurious Home Dining (Serves Eight)
This custom, world-class, five-course dinner for 8 including appetizers and cocktails, soup, salad, entrée and delicious desserts is accompanied by exceptional wines to complement every course from Omaha Steaks family owner Fred Simon's private wine cellar.

Sounds impressive, and for $10,000, it should be. There are a few dates that you can't request, December 24, 25, & 31, 2008 and January 1, 2009, but that's fairly understandable.

You can hit the Omaha Steaks site HERE to order, or at least check out the sample menu.

The Covini C6W Six-Wheel Car

Motor Authority was calling this a "supercar" but I'm not so sure. It certainly has the look of one, and a pretty nice top speed, but right now I'd just call it really interesting looking.

The Covini C6W (short for Covini 6 Wheeler) is an Italian two-seat, two-door car with a removable roof section.

The car was dreamed up over 30 years ago by Ferruccio Covini who states that the benefits of the six-wheel system include surviving a flat tire, extra braking capacity, better grip on the road, less chance of hydroplaning, and a more comfortable ride.

The car is planned to have a Audi-sourced 4.2L V8. Not huge, but the car is said to weigh 2,535, and should have a top speed of around 186mph. No word on price, but it is currently set to go into production in 2009.

You can read more about the car, and see several more pictures, over at the Motor Authority site HERE.

Top 100 Gadget List

I only hit this site every so often, but I usually always find something interesting.

I4U is a computer/game/gadget site, and they've come up with their top 100 things for Christmas 2008. The list is broken down into ten Top 10 lists, that covers things such as Gadgets and Toys, Portable Devices, Mobile Phones, and Video Games. A quick glance of the lists seem like they are pretty solid, so it might be worth it to head over and read up on what you might want to put on your Christmas list this year, catch up on the latest tech, or help you find someone a gift.

You can read through the list HERE.

Rouge O2 Electronic Wine Breather

If you're a big time wine drinker, you'll know that some wine should be decantered for at least fifteen minutes to let it breathe. There's a lot of gadgets out there to help you try and cut that time down, usually by some sort of thing you pour the wine through.

This gadget takes a different approach. It makes bubbles.

From the Sur La Table site:

Cut your wine’s breathing time from an hour to just one minute by gently bubbling air through wine. Wine breather brings out the best flavors and aromas in your wine. Simply place in your wine and press the power button to aerate. Durable stainless steel breather can be used with any of your wines. A perfect gift for wine lovers. Uses two AAA batteries (not included) to aerate up to 230 bottles.

It's a little on the expensive side for making bubbles, at $50. Though if it works, and you don't want to wait the fifteen minutes, it's probably worth it.

You can buy one HERE
