Popular Science has announced their 100 Best Of What's New 2008. A lot of the technology listed you've already heard of, such as the Apple Application Store. As with all good list though, there's going to be several you haven't heard of, and probably at least a few in there that you'll want to track down.
The list is broken up into eleven different categories, which are Automotive, Aviation & Space, Computing, Engineering, Gadgets, Green Tech, Home Entertainment, Home Tech, Health, Recreation and Security. Here's the blurb about it from the PopSci site:
For decades, we've fantasized about watching paper-thin TVs, soaring hundreds of feet with personal jetpacks, riding in cars that drive themselves, and re-growing organs. The 21st annual Best of What's New celebrates all of those dreams coming true. Take a look around here to learn about these achievements and 96 other breakthroughs that, whether long awaited or completely unexpected, are equally amazing. Photos, video, galleries, and more: it's Best of What's New 2008.
You can read through the list over at the Popular Science site HERE.

Remy Martin is one of my favorite Cognacs, so this really caught my eye.
The new Louis XIII is the latest high end release. The Cognac was made using only grapes from the heart of the Cognac vineyard in the Grande Champagne area. It is 100 years old, and has been carefully watched over by three generations of Cellar Masters.
The bottle is an impressively crafted 70cl carafe Baccarat crystal decanter with fleur-de-lys stopper. The Cognac itself is said to have "Rich notes of jasmine, saffron and five spice aromas along with subtle flavors of fig, sandalwood and ginger.". Not that I ever really put much stock in the tasting notes, as I think everyone gets a little something different.
If you're looking to add this to your home bar, haopefully you didn't think 100 year old Cognac was going to be cheap. Each bottle retails for £1,200, which is just shy of about $1,900 USD. Not sure if it's worth it but if I was a betting, and I am, I'd say that if you can afford it, get one.

Like any good show, SEMA had what is affectionately become known as booth babes.
Well, Autoblog posted some of their best pictures for you to take a look at. Though some of them could have been a lot better, such as the one to the left that's a great picture, but annoyingly at an odd angle.
Regardless, if you'd like to look through all forty of the pictures, you can start HERE. As always though, a small word of caution. There's nothing all that horrible here, but it's probably a good idea to wait until you get home to look through them.

Ducati has released a teaser for the new bike on it's site HERE, and further details on the bike will be coming soon I'm sure.
What we do know is that the bike will come in two differnt models, the regular Streetfighter and the S version. Both will come with a water-cooled 1099cc V-Twin engine that will produce 155 horsepower and 87.5 lb-ft of torque. The S model will be the more upscale version, and is rumored to come with Öhlins suspension upgrades and Marchesini forged aluminum wheels; bronze-painted frame, wheels and swingarm; carbon fiber bits and electronics such as standard traction control and data acquisition.
The base model will probably start out in the mid-teens price wise, but nothing solid has been announced yet. It's currently scheduled to be released sometime in the Spring of 2009.

Major league Baseball is having a contest to win a pair of tickets to an Opening Day game in 2009. All you need to do is pick where the top free agents will sign. Here's the details:
1) Your goal is to predict the correct MLB teams that 15 free agents will sign with during the MLB 2008-09 offseason.
2) You'll do this by selecting a team for each free agent. You will also select a confidence level for each selection. Confidence levels range from 15 down to 1, with 15 being the pick you are most confident about and 1 being the least confident.

The Rémy Martin is releasing a new single-harvest cognac which is their first since the Rémy Martin 1965.
The new Rémy Martin 1989 Cognac was originally created by Georges Clot, who was Rémy Martin's cellar master that year. He worked to select the best plots from over a thousand exclusively located in Grande Champagne vineyards, choosing eaux-de-vie from four estate-owned plots.
Now, after 18 years of ageing in Limousin oak barrels which were kept separately in a dedicated Rémy Martin cellar, it was decided at the annual tasting in 2007, that Rémy Martin 1989 was reaching its peak.
It is bottled in black frosted glass with a resealable wooden cork that's been hand dipped in wax to create a unique seal. Of course something rare like this isn't going to come cheap. Each bottle sells for $300.

Normally I try not to put up two like posts (in this case cars) in the same day (unless it's a theme), but I ran across this and thought it was cool enough to post about.
This 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow has been greatly modified to the point that it is said to have 1350hp. The cars engine is a 9.3-liter supercharged V8 with a nitrous injection system (with the nitrous adding a lot to that 1350hp I'm sure).
The car is owned by Florida car enthusiast and it was recently being shown off at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing Assoc.) Auto Show. The car also has a custom leather interior, a trunk which has fitted luggage and four TVs.
The modification estimates on how much money it took to get the car to it's current state are around $300,000.

Pictures of the new 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe have been making the rounds as of late. I haven't seen any solid details yet, but the car is supposed to have a new 3.7L VQ37VHR V6 engine in it.
The engine is the same one that's found in the Infiniti G37 Coupe, which has 330hp and 270lb-ft of torque. The current rumor is that the 370Z will be closer to around 350hp, with a possible dual-clutch gearbox as an option. As a comparison, the current 350Z has 306hp.
You can read more of the details about the car, and catch a picture of it out in the wild, over at Motor Authority HERE.
