Love the look of this car, and having 300 horsepower wouldn't be a bad thing. Here's the press release:
NEW ALFA ROMEO ENGINE TO BE PRODUCED IN ITALY
A new gasoline direct injection turbo engine for Alfa Romeo is to be developed in Italy for production at the FMA plant in Pratola Serra beginning in early 2013.
Designed for both transverse and longitudinal applications, the new 4-cylinder engine will have a displacement of 1.8 litres and maximum output of 300 hp, setting a new performance standard in its category. It will also be compliant with future emissions standards in both Europe (Euro 6) and the U.S. (Tier 2 Bin 5).
Made entirely of aluminium, the engine will incorporate the most advanced technological content, including a 200-bar gasoline direct injection system, dual variable timing and a high-efficiency turbocharger.
The all-aluminium design, combined with the most innovative technologies, will offer a power-to-weight ratio figure, fuel efficiency, acoustic and vibrational comfort, and driving performance that are the very best in its category and characteristic of Alfa Romeo engines.
"This is an extremely important step for Alfa Romeo, as we continue to reposition our brand and prepare it for global distribution. The United States remains our primary objective as we prepare for a 2013 introduction of our models," added Harald J. Wester, Fiat's Chief Technology Officer and head of the Alfa Romeo and Maserati Brands. "The dedication of Group-wide resources to develop specific powertrain solutions for the specific needs of Alfa Romeo is a reflection of the renewed thrust we are placing on the development of this brand. This is a first step in a series of initiatives to be implemented in the near future which will reconnect Alfa Romeo to its historical roots as a premium Italian sports car brand."

This is a product in on the Kickstarter site, so they are currently trying to get enough people to back the project so they can make the lights. They are pretty cool if you're a biker at all, or even for a young one to make sure they're seen. Here's the details:
FULL COLOR – 8-BIT GRAPHICS – RUGGED 100% WATERPROOF – $50 EACH
The Mini Monkey Light is a rugged, practical, high performance bike light that keeps you visible in all weather conditions. The Mini Monkey straps to your spokes and displays brilliant 8-bit graphics on your spinning bike wheel. The bright and colorful display is visible from all angles, and it makes riding in the evening even more fun than the daytime.
We believe that more people will consider biking for transportation if they are more confident and have more fun when they ride at night. We also believe that a practical and affordable product is critical to reaching a mass audience.
Today we have completed and tested samples of the Mini Monkey Light. The product is ready for full production. We need your help so we can invest in the equipment and parts needed to mass produce. If we reach our funding goal we hope to ship the product within 3 months.
You can hit the Kickstarter site HERE to back them.

I'm sure there will be a hell of a lot more stuff all over the net about the iPhone 4S, but I thought I would throw something out here anyway.
The new iPhone 4S has a dual core A5 chip, an 8-megapixel camera with new optics and a f/2.4 aperture to let in more light, records video in 1080p, the iCloud, AirPlay to wirelessly stream what’s on your iPhone to your HDTV and speakers via Apple TV, and it's a world phone, which allows you to use it just about anywhere you travel.
The most interesting thing to me, is that it's not a 4G or LTE network phone. It does however have two antennas to transmit and receive. Apple makes the claim that call quality is better, and that it doubles the maximum HSDPA data speeds to 14.4 Mbps. As long as it's available to use it that way on your carrier.
Finally, Apple has a new software called Siri, which is a voice activated system. Should be interesting to see how well it works. Someone should start the "siri-screwed-me.com" for amusing screw ups. Here's Apple's details about the new software:
Now you can use your voice to use your iPhone. Just talk to Siri as you would to a person: “Do I need an umbrella?” or “Any great burgers around here?” or “Where’s the closest ATM?” Siri not only understands what you say, it knows what you mean.1 It figures out the right apps to use to find the right answer. Then, just like a personal assistant, it answers you. Siri makes phone calls, sends messages, schedules meetings, sets reminders, and more. How much more? Just ask, and Siri tells you that, too.
Not sure what the phone will cost, but I would guess it would be around the $200 range with a contract. You can read all about the iPhone 4S over at the Apple site HERE.

I have to admit, I think this is the coolest flask I've ever seen. I love the brass skull and crossbones, which would be great by itself, but the etching on the rest of the flask really adds to it.
It also looks to be very well done, with an attached screw on cap, and made from stainless steel with chrome silver plating and the skull is raised gold brass-plated.
With your average flask you might pay around $40, and I'm impressed that this is only $75. You can grab one over at the CosmicFirefly site on Etsy by clikcing HERE.

This is a great unique looking watch. I will admit that it would take a little time to figure out how to tell time on the watch, but I think it would be worth it. Price wise, its not too bad at $180. Here's a little bit about it:
Bright enough to get you noticed but subtle enough to keep you looking cool, the new Kisai Rogue SR2 LCD watch presents the time through a circle of connecting blocks.
An 'Always On' Colored LCD Watch With Bright LED Backlighting
With an ever present LCD display in a choice of four colors, the time can be read at a glance but can also be illuminated with bright LEDs at the touch of a button. This exciting function is especially effective at night time.
The slim, curved case design is complemented by a solid stainless steel strap which can be adjusted easily to fit your wrist and the watch also features an alarm mode.
Reading the time on Kisai Rogue SR2 is simple but creates a sense of mystique to the uninformed.
A Black Stainless Steel Watch Design With Time & Alarm Function
The inner ring of blocks represents hours, the gap in the ring shows the current hour, as on a clock face. The ring of large blocks represents approximate minutes, the position of the gap shows the current approximate minutes. The outer ring of small dots represents exact minutes, every fifth dot being slightly smaller to distinguish five minute groups. Just look where the gaps are!
Available in green, blue, red or orange, Kisai Rogue SR2 is a limited edition LCD wrist watch design that would be a great fashion accessory whether at a business meeting or at a bar with friends.
You can grab one over at the Tokyo Flash site HERE.

Our collapsible ferrocerium fire-starter takes all excuses and throws them into the fire! This may possibly be the smallest ferrocerium fire starter on the market today. Attach it to your key chain, throw it into your pocket or tie it to your pack but never again leave home without one.
here are many ferrocerium fire-starting tools on the market. Some of these are high quality, some are small and some are self-contained. We set out to create a tool that incorporated all of these features and then some. While doing so we discovered that this product not only does the aforementioned, but it does it while being easier to use then tools more than twice the size! At the end of the day, this little tool can be collapsed and returned to key-chain ballast duty.
Because the nanoSTRIKER™ is so small, we were challenged with developing a new type of ferrocerium rod striking tool. We developed numerous prototypes and spared little expense to develop the most effective striker. This revolutionary striker is constructed of two different grades of stainless steel to offer the best quality finish and excellent durability. The 303 stainless steel component is hand polished then bead blasted for a great looking satin finish. The 440C component is high-precision machined and finished in a heat-treat oven bringing it's hardness to more than 50 Rockwell C (that means really hard for us normal people).
Features:
Patent Pending Collapsible self-contained fire starter
Ultra-portable for keyring and pocket carry
Ferrocerium rod works when wet
Lightweight 6061 aircraft aluminum body
Stainless steel 440C striker hardened to >50HRC
Replaceable ferrocerium rod
More than 1000 fire-starting strikes!
Included in box:
Split ring for keyring carry
nanoSTRIKERtm with ferrocerium rod
Extra set of o-rings
Instruction Manual
