I started on this wine kick today, and so I just sort of rolled with it. Here's another little handy gadget for wine lovers:
Push, twist, preserve—viola! Save opened wine for another time, and toast at just the right temp! Simply insert in an opened bottle and twist. The vacuum pump automatically suctions air out to prevent wine from oxidizing, while the digital temperature display (°F/°C) informs you when it's time to enjoy another glass! Suggested serving temps on back. Takes 2 AA batteries.
I've posted a few other wine preservation vacuums on here, and they're probably all a lot more impressive than this one. However, if you're looking for something a little more basic, and a lot less costly, this one might be a good buy.
You can buy one over at Wine Enthusiast HERE for $40.

Not exactly all that exciting, but I thought I would throw it up here anyway. Here's all about it from the site:
Enjoy wine at the perfect drinking temperature using this minimalist digital thermometer which easily attaches to the bottle. Includes instructions that provide ideal serving temperatures for different types of wine and a battery that lasts approximately 2000 hours. Temperature measured in Fahrenheit. Made of stainless steel and plastic.
It'll only set up back $36, and if you're really into wine, it might be worth it. You can buy one at the MoMA store HERE.

The idea is pretty sound, but I'd much rather chill my wine first, and then pour. I decided to post this for two reasons though. One, I guess it would do in a pinch, and two, it's also supposed to work with Vodka. Here's the details:
Chills wine instantly as you pour. Wine goes from room temp to serving temp in seconds! Remove your Ravi from the freezer, insert it in your bottle, and pour. Wine passes through the frozen steel chamber inside into your glass, chilling your red or white to perfection (similar to the way the frozen tub of an ice cream maker turns cream into a cool dessert). Finger tip-control air inlet helps you adjust serving temp and prevent dripping. Give your vodka a quick chill, too—pour it through Ravi and enjoy!
It's priced at $50, and you can buy one over at the Wine Enthusiast site HERE. They also have a little video showing you how it works if you're interested.

Masi Wines is having a contest to send you and a guest to Las Vegas.
If you're the grand prize winner, you'll receive two round trip airline tickets to Las Vegas, transfer to and from the Vegas airport, three nights at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, dinner for two costing up to $200, massages for two and $200 in Casino Credit.
Not positive what the casino credit will get you, but hopefully it's a little bit of gambling money. If not, you can probably spend it at a restaurant, get yourself a good cigar, or buy a round or two of drinks.
The contest runs through January 31, 2009, so you have a lot of time to enter. You can hit the Masi Wine site HERE to enter.

No idea if this will be any good, but it'd be worth a try at least just for the novelty of it.
Under a licensing agreement between HBO and New York-based Vesuvio Import Company, and distributed by Duggan’s Distillers Products Corporation, The Sopranos Italian Wines will hit stores beginning in September. The line includes three different Chianti D.O.C.G.(a regular, a Classico and a Classico Riserva), a Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Noir. The launch will be supported by a multi-media national campaign spearheaded by New York-based Gotham Direct, Inc., in cooperation with HBO. The campaign will initially target the New York Metropolitan area and expand coast-to-coast throughout the fall and holiday season.
You can currently buy the wines at the Mondo Liquor HERE, and they run between $14.99 and $33.99.

The Amcor wine vault sounds pretty good. Not one of the most impressive I've posted, but the big bonus here is that you can win one. Here's a little bit about it:
The Amcor WV-100 wine refrigerator offers many deluxe features. It is designed to be both freestanding and built-in under counter unit, offering 5 cedar wood trimmed shelves which can store up to 100 bottles of wine (capacity varies with bottle size) within its attractive black cabinet. Two separate cooling zones allow you to store both red and white wines in one convenient space. The LED temperature indicator provides the temperature readout of each cooling zone. In addition, this wine refrigerator includes interior lighting, solid aluminum door pulls, a security lock w/key and the interior charcoal odor control module.
The Rachael Ray Magazine site is giving one away on the site HERE. The contest runs until October 30, 2008.If you're going to enter, I'd pay close attention to all of the check boxes at the bottom of the entry form. There's five of them there, that are automatically checked for you, that you may want to uncheck to avoid getting any unwanted emails.

I've seen a few of these before, and this one also looks pretty good. If you're a wine drinker, something like this is great to have if you want to save an open bottle of wine for later in the week. Here's the details from the site:
The SoWine Bar from EuroCave can keep fresh two bottles of opened wine for up to 7 days at the perfect serving temperature. The SoWine has two separate compartments that can be independently selected, with factory settings for both white and red wines. Since the compartments are independent of each other, you can have either two bottles of red, two white or one of each preserved and ready to go. The push down pump on top of the SoWine seals you're open bottle, ensuring the perfect vacuum to prevent oxidation of the wine.
You can read more about it over at the EuroCave site HERE.
