Nationwide Insurance is having a Switch & Save contest, where the winner will be sent out to Vegas to watch the 2009 NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The good news is that you don't have to actually switch your insurance, or even get a quote. It just takes you to a page where you can do that if you want to, but after you enter the contest. I'm sure you'll also get at least one email, but those you can turn off after the first one.
There's actually five prize packages, and they're pretty good, although pretty NASCAR heavy. The winner receives roundtrip coach-class air transportation for two; one night accommodations at a hotel determined by Sponsor; use of a fully-loaded RV for four (4) days at an infield location at the racetrack; supplies for the RV; a meet and greet with Kevin Harvick; two VIP race credentials with access to the NASCAR™ Nationwide Series garage and the NASCAR™ Sprint Cup Series garage; two race tickets for the NASCAR™ Nationwide Series race and the NASCAR™ Sprint Cup Series race; $2,000 spending money; two apparel packages consisting of a branded hat, polo shirt, and microfiber jacket; and two $500 NASCAR™ Superstore.com gift certificates.
The contest runs through November 17, 2008, and you can enter it HERE.

The volcano at The Mirage in Las Vegas is one of those old school icons that's been around forever. The volcano has been down for a while though, as they have been updating it. Well, the new and improved volcano is set to open soon, and The Mirage is having a contest to celebrate. Here's a little bit about the whole thing:
"Known the world over for its iconic Strip-front feature, The Mirage has joined forces with legendary Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart, Indian tabla sensation Zakir Hussain and Fountains of Bellagio design firm WET to create an all-new audio/visual spectacle. The top-to-bottom overhaul is the final step in the property's ongoing transformation and is scheduled for completion late 2008."
The grand prize is a trip for two to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Premiere of The Mirage Volcano December 8, 2008. Trip consists of: Round-trip coach air transportation for two; three days / two nights in deluxe guest room accommodations at The Mirage Casino-Hotel; VIP access for two to The Mirage Volcano Premiere and after-party; dinner for two at STACK American Bistro; spa treatments for two at The Mirage Spa; two passes to Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat.
There's a few hoops to jump through for this one though, in that they want you to send in a story, photo or video of your favorite memory of the previos volcano. The winner will be the one that gets the most votes, so you'll have to be a little creative. The contest runs though November 15, 2008, and you can go to the Mirage site HERE to enter, which looks like it makes you jump through one more hoop, in that the links take you over to Facebook where you'll have to sign up to enter the contest. It's a decent prize package, but it's too bad that they made it such an absolute pain to enter.

The Las Vegas Sands has announced that they have reached an agreement with Starwood Hotels to create The St. Regis Residences at the Venetian Palazzo. The new project is a collection of 398 private luxury residences under construction between the Las Vegas Sands' Palazzo and Venetian resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. The residences are available fully furnished with a choice of several different designer packages and will range in size from 1,700 to over 10,000 square feet for a duplex villa with a private pool. Prices on individual units haven't been released yet but the press release states that total sales for all units could reach as much as $2 billion, which would put the average price at over $5 million. The St. Regis Residences are expected to open in March 2010, will begin accepting VIP reservations this month and with a preview gallery opening in October.

This is kind of an odd contest, but could be a pretty good one.
Rachel Ray's magazine is giving away a 24 hour trip to Las Vegas with a twist. Here's whatyou win:
A 1 night's stay at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, 2 tickets to KÀ by Cirque du Soleil, and a $1,500 American Express gift card.
So it's only one night, and there's no airline tickets to fly out there. However, you do get the $1500 gift card, and that should be enough to get you and someone else out to Vegas, add a few nights stay at MGM (or wherever you want to stay) and maybe a dinner or two at least. Looking at it that way, it's not too bad, and might even be better than some, since you'll get to pick where you want to stay other than the one free night.
The contest runs through September 30, 2008, and you can enter it at the Rachel Ray site HERE.
Also, just to let you know, there's a few check boxes at the bottom that you might want to look at if you really don't want to start getting emails from the site.

I'm not sure what golf or Las Vegas has to do with a airconditioner, but I guess a Vegas contest does get people's attention.

Well, the Excalibur has installed some of the new electronic poker tables. VegasRex and a freind of his went over and checked them out. There was some interesting things that you could do at the table, such as paying $0.50 to rabbit hunt and see what the next few cards would be after you fold. I try never to do that, but sometimes you just want to know. Of course, it's always entertaining to read VegasRex talk about his time running around Vegas. Though, if you're German, you might want to skip it, or just please remember to send him the hate mail.
You can read his take on the new poker tables over at the VegasRex site HERE.
