Major league Baseball is having a contest to win a pair of tickets to an Opening Day game in 2009. All you need to do is pick where the top free agents will sign. Here's the details:
1) Your goal is to predict the correct MLB teams that 15 free agents will sign with during the MLB 2008-09 offseason.
2) You'll do this by selecting a team for each free agent. You will also select a confidence level for each selection. Confidence levels range from 15 down to 1, with 15 being the pick you are most confident about and 1 being the least confident.
3) You will score points for each correct selection based on your confidence level. Compile the most points and you could win tickets to see your favorite MLB team play its first home game of the 2009 MLB regular season.
4) Your picks must by submitted before 5 p.m. ET on Nov. 12, 2008.
If you're the winner, you'll get two tickets to one 2009 MLB Opening Day game of the MLB Club of your choice. As mentioned above, the contest runs until Nov. 12, 2008, and you can enter it HERE.

If you're a baseball fan, and certainly if you (like myself) are a Mets fan, you've heard that Shea Stadium is no more. As with anything that has sentimental value to people, they are auctioning it off.
To be part of the auction, you need some up front cash, and it goes in levels:
Platinum - $10,000 minimum purchase deposit (MPD)
Gold - $5,000 minimum purchase deposit (MPD)
Silver - $2,500 minimum purchase deposit (MPD)
Here's how it works:
This is NOT A FEE, but a non-refundable deposit towards your intended purchases. No matter which level you choose, 100% of your money goes towards what you buy. If you want to spend more than your MPD, you can pay the balance after your Tour. Platinum members will tour the stadium first, followed by Gold and then Silver members. Tours will be conducted while the Mets are on the road in September. Club members will be given a specific date and time for the Shea Memorabilia Tour, in order of minimum purchase deposit. The higher the minimum purchase deposit, the earlier your opportunity to reserve the items you want. And Club Members who choose the same MPD will get their Club Number on a first-come, first-served basis. So the sooner you sign up, the earlier you will get to tour Shea Stadium to make your selections.
If you want to see a full list of items that are up for sale, you can go HERE. Some of the more notable ones, with their starting bid price, are:
Mets Dugout = $100,000
1969 World Championship Flag = $50,000
Johan Santana (Willie Mays, Roger McDowell, Mike Piazza) locker = $50,000
Outfield Wall Panel 371 = $5,000

Normally I stick to contests that will get you out to Vegas, but the World Series would be a pretty good time too, so I thought I would throw this one up.
The Grand Prize winner can choose either (a) a trip for two to attend one game of the 2008 MLB World Series Championship , or (b) $5,000 cash. In the event Winner chooses the World Series Game as the Grand Prize, the Grand Prize will include round trip coach class air transportation the World Series Game (location to be determined), hotel accommodations for two nights, two tickets to one 2008 World Series championship game plus $500.00 for meals.
You only get to go to one game, but overall it's a pretty good deal. The contest runs through 10/1/08, and you can enter to win HERE.

There's nothing to strike fear into the hearts of your opponents like stepping up to the beer pong table with your personal logo on the balls. To get those custom balls, you can go to Adam's Balls and create the beer pong balls of your dreams. A minimum order is only 25, the logos are in full color and the site says that they've soaked the balls in beer, rum, and grain alcohol for over a week and they still looked brand new. As for the logo itself, there equipment allows you to print anything you want on the balls (as long as it’s not copyrighted of course).
You can hit the site HERE to check everything out and put in your order.

I'll admit that NASCAR really isn't my thing, but if there's a trip to Vegas involved, sign me up.
This contest is being given away by Hershey, which seems to be an odd mix, but seeing as how huge NASCAR is I'm not surprised. The grand prize is a round-trip airfare for you and a friend to Las Vegas, a three night hotel stay, two tickets to the 2008 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race and $500 cash. Not a bad weekend at all.
You can sign up for the contest HERE.

Every time I hear something new about Dubai, it's always amazing. It also makes me wonder why the rest of the world isn't taking note.
One of the newest things to catch my eye is Sports City. The site is being created in DubaiLand, and will have over 50 million square feet of sporting venues, academies, exceptional homes, cultural activities and retail areas. The cornerstones of the city will be a 25,000 capacity cricket stadium and a 5,000-seater hockey stadium, both of which are due for completion in early 2008, and then a 60,000-seater multi-purpose outdoor stadium and a 10,000-seater multi-purpose indoor stadium, both to be completed by the end of 2009. It doesn't stop there however.
There will also be an 18-hole championship course named The Dunes designed by Ernie Els, a Manchester United Soccer Schools facility, a Global Cricket Academy, a David Lloyd Tennis Academy, the first Butch Harmon School of Golf outside the United States, a 3,000 square meter gymnasium and an olympic-length swimming pool.
You can head over to the official site HERE to learn more about living in the city, right down to a map of where everything will be.

Since My previous two posts today were about Vegas, I decided to stick with the theme.
AVP.com and Wilson have teamed up to send one lucky winner to Las Vegas to watch the Gods and Goddesses of the Beach tournament. The winner will receive roundtrip airfare to Las Vegas, 3 day/2 nights hotel stay; and two 3-day passes to the AVP Las Vegas Gods and Goddesses tournament.
Not a lot of information here on where you'll stay, but the tournament runs from September 6 - 8 at Caesars Palace, so the hope is you'll stay there. If not, it's a free weekend in Vegas. I'm sure you can suck it up a little bit.
The contest runs until Aug. 19th, 2007, and you can register HERE.
