I love the look of this player, though I'm betting it's a little on the expensive side. I haven't looked into it a whole lot, but you can check out the video by clicking HERE.

Some details:

If you’ve ever been to a live performance and felt compelled to give a standing ovation in the hope of hearing an encore, then don’t be surprised if you feel the same impulse from our newest member of the Bang & Olufsen family – BeoSound 5 Encore. Having guests over for dinner – party optional – but don’t have time to construct the perfect playlist? Just select the song you want to listen to on BeoSound 5 Encore and sit back as the MOTS feature strings together a row of songs of a similar nature. Or share your passion for classical music from all over the world – or any other genre. Choose your favourites among the 13,000 international radio stations that BeoSound 5 Encore gives you access to. And when your guests can no longer keep their hands from the crafted aluminium wheel and their eyes from the crisp LCD screen, they can swiftly browse through a slew of album covers, music tracks or radio stations together to select yet another perfect song or mood. Interaction is intuitive, instantaneous, and seamless.

BeoSound 5 Encore offers lossless playback of all your digital music, from the storage media that suits you best. From an external harddrive or a music server. Or perhaps you want to play your newest music favourite from a simple USB stick, your smartphone or another mobile device. Either way, BeoSound 5 Encore will play the music for you. The choice is yours.

If you have the BeoSound 5 with BeoMaster 5, you can extend your music to more rooms with Encore, by using BeoMaster 5 as a music server for one or more BeoSound 5 Encores. Just as several BeoSound 5 Encores can connect to a central music server and play different music in different rooms. This way you can extend the unique and well-known access to your music to your entire home.

I'm really intrigued by this. The site boasts 15 million tracks, you can create your own playlists, and listen for free for ten hours a month. Pay $5 a month, and you can listen to an unlimited amount of streaming music. Kick it up to the premium level, for $10 a month, and you can then save the music on your playlists to your computer of smartphone, and listen to them offline.

That last one is what really interests me. For just the price of about 10 songs on iTunes, you can listen to as much music as you want. If this service is half as good as it sounds, I can't see ever giving iTunes any money ever again.

There is a downside, in that you don't really own the song, you're just sort of renting access to it. Plus, I have no idea if brand new tunes are going to show up on Spotify, or if you're going to have to wait a while. Or if one day a song you love is just going to no longer be available. Though trying it out for free for a few months should answer those questions, but that brings me to the bad news. Currently the free version of Spotify is by invitation only. Though if you want to go ahead and jump in to one of the paid subscriptions, it looks like you're welcome to go ahead and sign up.

I might take the plunge and get the $10 subscription. I've spent a lot more for a lot less. If I do take the plunge, I'll let you know how it goes.

You can hit the Spotify site HERE and check it out.

Anyone used this service? What do you think?

This is a neat idea. I wouldn't ever use the picks, but it would be a fun way to shred old credit cards. Here's the details:

Guitar picks have been made from all sorts of things in the past- bone, shell, wood, metal, amber, ivory and even stone. Now you can add your old credit card to this list, with the Pickmaster Plectrum Punch.

Working in much the same way as a standard hole punch and around the same size, this ingenious device will punch a perfect guitar pick out of any plastic sheet- bank cards, gift cards, carton lids, in fact any thin plastic that you can find. Punch out a pick and get playing!

It's also a little on the expensive side, at $35, but you do have to get it from the UK. You can grab on HERE.
