We Officially Have a Hometown Hottie Winner

April Rose, 26, from Chicago IL. is Maxim's official 2008 Hometown Hottie.

April beat out 999 other women to take home the title, and overall I think it's a good choice.

You can check out the Top 10 Finalists HERE to see who she beat for the title, and you can check out April's page HERE to see exactly why she the winner.

Popular Science’s Best Of What’s New 2008

Popular Science has announced their 100 Best Of What's New 2008. A lot of the technology listed you've already heard of, such as the Apple Application Store. As with all good list though, there's going to be several you haven't heard of, and probably at least a few in there that you'll want to track down.

The list is broken up into eleven different categories, which are Automotive, Aviation & Space, Computing, Engineering, Gadgets, Green Tech, Home Entertainment, Home Tech, Health, Recreation and Security. Here's the blurb about it from the PopSci site:

For decades, we've fantasized about watching paper-thin TVs, soaring hundreds of feet with personal jetpacks, riding in cars that drive themselves, and re-growing organs. The 21st annual Best of What's New celebrates all of those dreams coming true. Take a look around here to learn about these achievements and 96 other breakthroughs that, whether long awaited or completely unexpected, are equally amazing. Photos, video, galleries, and more: it's Best of What's New 2008.

You can read through the list over at the Popular Science site HERE.

The Girls Of SEMA

Like any good show, SEMA had what is affectionately become known as booth babes.

Well, Autoblog posted some of their best pictures for you to take a look at. Though some of them could have been a lot better, such as the one to the left that's a great picture, but annoyingly at an odd angle.

Regardless, if you'd like to look through all forty of the pictures, you can start HERE. As always though, a small word of caution. There's nothing all that horrible here, but it's probably a good idea to wait until you get home to look through them.

Evan Williams Bourbon Model Contest - Week 4

The contest to find the model to promote Evan Williams Bourbon is now in it's fourth week. I somehow forgot to mention weeks two and three. Sorry about that. Also, if you're a model hoping to get some work, it also looks like they might still be taking entries.

As with most contests like this, probably not the safest thing to do while at work, but at your leisure, you can head over the Evan Williams site and vote on your favorite HERE.

Online Poker, With A Twist

I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I was over at the Bluff Magazine site, when I noticed what looked to be an add for a new poker room. I clicked on the link, and what I found was a poker site, but with a lot of something extra. I don't want to offend any corporate content filters, so I'll say that the site has a lot of women without any of their clothes on.

The site, called Swank Poker, has gone all out though, using the girls as your avatars at the table, having a whole area of the site dedicated to just the girls, and even unique prizes for collecting points while playing. Most sites have a point system, where the more you play, the more points you get. You can then use those points for free tournaments, merchandise, and things like that. Swank has taken it that extra step with prizes like a condom for each day of the year, getting to join in a "scene"with one of the girls, to even providing an escort for 24-hours in some major cities of the world.

I guess they figured the women would be a great marketing ploy to get men to their site.

The site is completely unsafe for work, so I won't post any links here, but it's easy to find by it's name.
