Quick Cigar Review Roundup

I like to do this every other Friday or so, just to get caught up on my cigar reviews. I rarely get to have a good cigar anymore, but it's alwasy good to have an idea of what I should be looking for when I get the chance. Or better yet, what I should avoid. I'll just list these out, and you can hit the sites and read up on the if you want.

CigarJack - My favorite:

You can read about the Dunhill Aged Dominican Peravia HERE, the  Isla de Cuba Aged Maduro Toro HERE, the Isla de Cuba Classic Toro HERE and the Camacho Select Robusto HERE.

The Stogie Guys:

You can read about the Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Legend Challenger HERE, the Wango Tango Biggie HERE and the Bolivar Royal Corona (Cuban) HERE.

Cigar Auction For Charity

The Arturo Fuente and J.C. Newman families are auctioning off dozens of highly prized cigars to raise money for their foundation, the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, which donates proceeds to impoverished children living in the Dominican Republic, where the lauded cigars are produced. The foundation has already raised over $3 million for needy kids.

The auction has been going on for a few days, and currently all of the auctions will end in the next one to four days. There are currently still approximately 45 auctions still up and running, ranging from two cigars and a couple of cutters where the high bid is only $30, to Super Bowl tickets currently going for $4050, and a special selection of cigars comes from Carlos Fuente, Jr.'s personal humidor that's currently at $6550.

You can hit the auction and check out all of the available lots HERE.

The Döttling Cigar Safe

The company Dottling is creating high quality safes that are customized to your needs. the safes come in three different types, the Legends series that uses antique safes, The Bel-Air line that look like steamer trunks, and The Chameleon line which are more functional than anything else, and are made to fit into small spaces.

The safe shown here, and the reason it caught my eye, was made into a humidor. The humidor had two humidification systems that are fully crafted into the safe, an illuminated console cover controlled by a remote that openes up to reveal a second secret humidor. The safe itself was built in Amsterdam in the late 19th century, featured a high-gloss black piano finish, and a curved door with the interior comprised of Spanish cedar.

No real word on the cost of the safe, but I'm guessing this is one of those that if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. You can see more about the safes of the Dottling site HERE.

Dunhill Anniversary Edition Cigars

The Dunhill Anniversary Edition Cigars have been created to celebrate 100 years of the Dunhill cigar brand, and will be limited to 20,000 cigars.

The cigars will be made in Nicaragua by Toraños and distributed by C.A.O. International Inc. of Nashville. The cigars will have a blend much like the Dunhill Signed Range, but should have “a little more finesse and sweetness,” said Dunhill brand manager Bruce Lewis.

The current plan is to have the Cigars out on the shelves by October.

Win a Graycliff 1666 5-Pack

CigarJack is having a contest to win a 5-Pack of Graycliff 1666 Cigars from Cigars International.

All you have to do is subscribe to the CigarJack email updates and leave a comment to the post saying you subscribed. You can find the post HERE.

CigarJack said that the Graycliff 1666 was "strong enough to settle any stomach, but somehow it doesn’t seem overpowering. Versatile enough to satisfy many palates. One of my new favorites." So it sounds like it's well worth winning. The contest ends July 31st, 2008.

Cigar Jack At The IPCPR Tradeshow

According to their website HERE, The International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers is a not-for-profit trade association organized as the advocate for the independent retail tobacconist and recognized as the "Voice of Authority and Reason" on premium tobacco related issues.

This year they're having the trade show in Las Vegas, and Cigar Jack is there to check things out. He's really only made a few posts so far, and you can read day one HERE, and about day two and three HERE.

Sounds like he's having a pretty good time in that on day one, he mentions that "Crown on the rocks makes you forget how bad your feet and back hurt." and the day two and three post states "Last track of how much I drank and smoked the past two days, I think my taste buds are long gone.".
