This has made it's way around the net for a while, and I've been meaning to mention it. Overall it sounds interesting, and as it costs around $50 a bottle, it's certainly worth grabbing to try it out. Here's some of the details about it from the ri1whiskey.com site:
Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc., a global leader in
premium spirits, expands its award-winning whiskey portfolio with the introduction of (r?)1 Whiskey, the company’s first ultra-premium rye whiskey. Debuting nationwide this October in limited quantities, (r?)1 (pronounced “rye one”) is set to elevate the ultra-premium whiskey category, offering consumers a refined flavor, a striking look and a new take on cocktail couture.
Bottled at 92 proof, (r?)1 features a light, slightly spicy flavor and a long, luxurious finish. Straight, the nose offers a gentle, peppery nod to its rye heritage. Cut with water, the scents of dried fruit and cinnamon push to the front, providing a rich palate experience.
(r?)1 is packaged in a distinctive glass bottle with a single label that reinforces the brand’s straight forward feel and modern style. Priced at approximately $46-48 per 750ml bottle (varies by market,) (r?)1 is an exquisite spirit suitable for the most sophisticated lifestyle. Future variants, including (r?)2 and (r?)3, are planned to create a complete product line. For more information, visit www.ri1whiskey.com.

If you hit the site anytime yesterday afternoon, you probably got a page stating that my web hosting company suspended Vicepost. I, however, didn't see the email until I logged in tonight to write some posts.
I then call said Web Hosting company.
Call #1 - They tell me something is happening with my site, and it's jacking up the CPU usage on the server I'm on. Something with SQl and my databases. I look through everything, can't find a damn thing that would be causing it in an hour of looking. I call back.
Call #2 - They tell me it's my site. Can't turn it back on. Something in there is wrong, and it's causing problems. I explain that I can't find anything, nothing in the last month (other than new posts) has changed about my site. Nope, the guy says it's my site, and then actually starts to go into a sales pitch about "Maybe you've outgrown shared hosting, we have several…" and that's as far as he gets before I hang up. I once worked at a help desk, and normally I try to be as nice as possible to the tech on the phone. Though when you've nuked my site and I'm scrambling to try and figure out why, a sales pitch to get more money from me makes all the nice go away.
I spend another half an hour looking through stuff, even deleting two test sites that I have, just in case. Nothing makes sense. It should be fine. I call back.
Call #3 - I explain everything I went through. I explain that my sites not that big. It didn't get crushed with traffic (though that would have at least been a nice problem). I ran though the database info. All of that.
I get put on hold. For a good little bit. The tech then comes back and explains that they ran a bunch of tests and scripts for my site and found…it wasn't Vicepost causing the problem. It was most likely some other site.
Oops, their mistake. They take my site down for a good 13+ hours, have me chasing ghosts for a total of about two hours, and it had nothing to do with my site at all.
I am VERY unhappy right now.
In light of all the great fun I've had this evening, there probably won't be any new posts until probably tomorrow afternoon.

If you've looked around at the cigar section here, I'm sure you've run across many posts about Cigar Jack's site. It's one of my favorites.
Since it is the Christmas season, Cigar Jack has a few posts on holiday gift ideas for the cigar smoker in your life.
The first deal with humidors, and it can be found HERE.
The second is all about cigar cutters, and it can be found HERE.
I'm hoping there's a part three soon, and it's all about his best cigar recommendations. I have a feeling that one of them might very well be a Christmas present to myself very soon.
If neither of those interest you, you should at least hit the site HERE and look around some. It's well worth it.

As far as I can tell, this isn't being shown on TV anywhere, and I'm not sure that I'd watch it anyway. This could be a slaughter.
Nicolay Valuev is the current WBA champion, and this is a title fight. Evander is 11 years older, 100 pounds lighter, and almost a foot shorter. Plus, in his last fight a year ago was a 12 round loss to Sultan Ibragimov where I hear Evander pretty much lost every round.
For Valuev, I guess this would look like an easy win against a once great name. For Holyfield, I think it's all about the money. It was reported in June that Holyfield's $10 million dollar home was under foreclosure and being auctioned off, he was being sued by a consulting company for not paying back a $550,000 loan, and he was behind on his child support payments.
I'd love to see Evander get in a lucky punch, win the title, get one more big payday, and retire. I have a bad feeling it's not going to happen though.
The fight is this Satuday, December 20th, in Zurich, Switzerland. If anyone knows if it's going to be on TV anywhere in the U.S., let me know.

I have no idea what I would use one of these for, but I still want one. Here's all about it from the Think Geek site:
The US Military wanted portable but secure storage, and the guys at IronKey stepped up. They've developed the perfect solution that's one-part thumb-drive, and two parts Mission: Impossible. Their thumb drives hold up to 8 Gigabytes of data, but includes a hardware encryption chip that scrambles the data so as to be completely unreadable without a password.
Passwords can be hacked, but not the IronKey. It's built to withstand attacks both virtual and physical. 10 incorrect password attempts, and the encryption chip self-destructs, making the contents of the flash drive totally unreadable. The contents of the drive are filled with epoxy, so if a hacker tries to physically access the chips, he'd more likely damage them instead. Even if he did get access to the memory chips, they'd be worthless without the encryption chip. Electron-shielded, even a scanning electron microscope can't get inside.
Applications built right onto the IronKey help keep your personal data safe. For example, the password manager keeps your passwords safe.
A secure copy of Firefox included with your IronKey encrypts your browsing session through a VPN tunnel to IronKey's Secure Sessions Service. It works by tunneling your entire web browsing communications through the Tor-based Secure Sessions proxy on your IronKey. The Secure Sessions tunnel connects over an encrypted connection to their network routing servers, which in turn route your traffic between a number of servers, and then eventually out to your destination website. This approach protects your identity and your confidentiality, encrypting and anonymizing your Web surfing on almost any network or VPN (virtual private network).
These drives have already seen duty in Afghanistan, keeping US Military secrets safe from unsavory people. They're certainly good enough even for your most sensitive data.
You can buy one over at the Think Geek site HERE. They start out at $70 for the 1 Gigabyte model, and run all the way up to $250 for the 8gig model.

I still really hope that someone will win one of these Vegas contests sooner or later.
This one isn't all that exciting, but as always, it's still Vegas. The winner of this one will receive a two-night stay at New York-New York Hotel & Casino, a $75 dinner credit at Nine Fine Irishmen, 2 tickets to Zumanity™ by Cirque du Soleil (which is actually a pretty good show), 2 passes to ROK Vegas, and of course round-trip airfare for two.
There's some questions they want you to fill out, the contest runs through December 31, 2008, and you can enter it over at the Southwest Spirit Magazine site HERE.

I've never been a fan of the whole yellow sportscar look, but this is still one beautiful car.
Reiter Engineering competes in the FIA GT1 and GT3 with it's Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT. Recently, they created a street legal version of their racecar.
The Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT was developed by Reiter Engineering and Audi, Lamborgini's parent company. The Murcielago R-GT is a highly competitive GT car for use in professional motorsport events. The R-GT's V12 engine develops identical peak power to the standard Lamborghini Murcielago (580hp) but the power is available over a wider rage. The other big difference is that the Murcielago R-GT is incredibly light weight at just 2425 lbs, making it 1212 lbs lighter than the standard model.
Reiter Engineering has stated however, that the street legal version is a one-off and not technically for sale. As with anything though, rumor has it that it can be had for the right amount of money.
You can see more pictures of the car over at Autoblog HERE, and of the racing version over at Supercars.net HERE.

They haven't started taking orders for this yet,so I'm not sure what it's going to cost. Regardless of the price, however, it might be worth it.
The NanoBrewMaster is about two feet wide, and eight feet long "all-in-one" beer brewing device. That's right, it brews, ferments, chills, and then pours your homemade beer.
Not only that, but the whole thing is also supposed to be self cleaning.
The system is run by an onboard computer that controlls the the introduction of water, extract, hops, yeast, and any optional ingredients you might want to add. It also regulates the heating and cooling of the beer.
How much beer? The NanoBrewMaster will make up to 15 gallons ber batch. More than enough for you, your friends, and a pretty good party.
There's no word yet when they will actually start shipping these, but you can sign up at their site HERE to get updates on when that might happen. Hopefully it's soon.

I've talked about Crushpad before (HERE) and they've recently come up with a great marketing idea. From their site:
Just like you, we here at Crushpad have been obsessing as our 401k’s sink like a stone. But we put our anxiety on hold, put on our day trading hats and figured out a way to combine winemaking and derivatives to create Bailout - a wine that is dynamically priced to balance out any pain your retirement account may be feeling.
The big guys have credit default swaps and billion dollar bailouts. Well, we’ve got Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - our own little piece of the bailout pie whether the market rocks or tanks.
For $39, you purchase futures on an awesome 2007 Napa Cabernet currently aging in French oak barrels. The wine will be bottled in August 2009. If the Dow goes down, you get an economic stimulus check of $2 per bottle for every 100 point drop. If it goes up, then your 401K is looking good and the maximum of $39 is a steal for similar wines we produce that command $75+ at retail. Bull or bear, you can’t lose.
I've never had the pleasure of tasting their wine, regardless though, you have to admire the idea. You can hit the Bailout Wine site HERE to learn more about the wine itself, and read more about the deal in general.
