For its 75th anniversary, Jaguar has created the C-X75 Concept Car.
What makes it special, other than a beautiful look? The car has four electric/gas motors, one powering each wheel, and each generates 195hp. This gives the car 780hp all together, that will get you from 0 to 62mph in 3.4 seconds, and a quarter mile time of 10.3 seconds.
Jaguar has also stated that the batteries in the C-X75 will power the two seater for up to 68 miles on electric power alone. After that, two micro gas turbines will begin generating 94 hp apiece, giving you almost 500 miles of additional range.
You can read more about the car, and check out some more pictures, over at the Jalopnik site HERE.
Yet another Tequila I need to track down and try. Here's the press release:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (September 27, 2010) – Tequila Herradura has set the standard for exceptionally hand-crafted, ultra-premium 100 percent agave tequilas since 1870. To celebrate its 140th Anniversary, Casa Herradura announced today the introduction of new primary packaging that celebrates the brand’s traditional, time-honored production process while projecting the sophistication of unyielding elegance.
“To commemorate our 140th Anniversary, we are introducing Tequila Herradura with a new bottle that accentuates our premium tequilas and unifies the brand under one global and streamlined image,” said John Hayes, managing director for Brown-Forman Tequilas. “The design dignifies and honors the extraordinary quality of Tequila Herradura without altering our traditional hand-crafted process and premium ingredients that tequila aficionados will continue to sip and savor.”
The new packaging for Herradura Tequila was conceptualized across all brand expressions to include key design elements featuring a new angular, square cut-glass bottle, which showcases the tequila’s natural essence and improve ultra-premium cues.
“The form of the bottle is elegantly tapered and square shaped with an extended neck that ties to the authenticity of traditional Mexican glass making with the functional benefit of allowing it to be easy to hold and pour,” said Ken Hirst, a renowned global packaging consultant who assisted in the design of the new Herradura package.
To elevate Herradura Tequila’s unwavering quality and brand cache, the front bottle-face features a metal horseshoe inset to establish the horseshoe as the core brand icon and a defining feature on the package since Herradura means horseshoe in Spanish. The bottle closure also was updated with a clean smooth finish to establish a modern image and an embossed ribbon seal to signify authenticity while unifying the line extension.
“A brand with over a century of deeply rooted heritage deserves a presentation befitting of its status and this new simplified look will present Herradura’s world-class tequila in a contemporary, streamlined way while honoring the brand’s rich history,” said Johnny Cárdenas, senior art director for Casa Herradura Tequilas.
While the Añejo and Reposado expression names remain the same, Herradura Blanco is now identified as “Silver” in the U.S., and “Plata” in the majority of the world to leverage consumer familiarity.
Herradura’s new packaging will be offered first in the 750ml bottle followed by the 1L. The new packaging is currently available on store shelves and in restaurants and bars in California, Florida and Texas markets, and throughout Mexico. The remainder of the U.S. and rest of the world will follow in the coming weeks and months.
To support the Herradura new bottle launch, an advertising campaign was developed by Draftfcb-Chicago that includes print, out-of-home, point-of-sale and digital properties. A message that communicates, “Never Compromise,” will help convey the brand’s commitment to unsurpassed quality and further differentiate Casa Herradura as an upscale leader in the ultra-premium category.
Tequila Herradura is one of the only hand-harvested, handcrafted and estate bottled tequilas in the world. While the look of Herradura’s tequila has been elevated to an elegant and modern image, the same flavor and recipe of founding father’s Ambrosio Rosales and Aurelio López continues unchanged for 140 years.
Not sure that I'm all excited about this place, but it does have two interesting things about it: Cowgirls and a 115ft TV.
From the looks of it, this is the new, or somewhat new, club that took over the spot that used to be the Hawaiian Tropic restaurant. Sounds pretty interesting overall, so I'll have to make it a point to check it out when I get out to Vegas at the end of October.
Here's the details about it from the site:
The PBR Rock Bar offers a great destination for tourists and locals alike. The PBR Rock Bar offers a 13,000 square foot indoor restaurant and a 3,000 square foot outdoor pavilion, where people can eat great food, catch rays on the patio, watch their favorite sporting events, listen to live music, drink, dance and party, all while watching people ride the infamous mechanical bull. The PBR Rock Bar looks to capture the sports energy while offering an upbeat and comfortable place for patrons of all kinds, not just PBR fans.
A Little Bit Country, But Mostly Rock & Roll
Far from a country saloon, the PBR Rock Bar’s vibe will revolve around its positively energized environment. A great restaurant, sports bar, outdoor daiquiri hangout during the day and early evening and then turning into one of Las Vegas’ hottest bar and nightclub scenes at night.
The place to be for people who are looking for a no hassle place for great drinks, dancing and socializing. Awesome indoor and outdoor bars, some of the best DJ’s and bands in town, amazing light racks and sound systems will be rocking non-stop. And for those who have the guts, they can ride the bull!
Classic American Grill
The PBR Rock Bar Grill provides the tastes of America in a big and bold fashion. Executive Chef Billy Boyle brings gourmet culinary expertise to classic American fare to develop a unique taste just for the PBR Rock Bar. Big flavors and big portions delivery a quality dining experience that brings home the PBR style.
Nightlife
The PBR Rock Bar offers several entertainment options for customers both during the day and in the evening. Anyone who has been to Las Vegas knows that the real party starts after dark, and the PBR Rock Bar is no exception. A stage in the main dining room plays host to nightly live music from local and national bands and top notch DJ’s, adding to an energetic ambiance. The PBR Rock Bar also provides VIP bottle service for the complete Las Vegas club experience.
If you've ever been in a bar, you've probably played, or at least seen, a machine like this one. It has a 150 games on it, a 19-inch widescreen monitor, and built in wifi. The price is a little expensive at $3995 MSRP, but you should be able to fine it somewhere for less expensive I'm sure, when it becomes available sometime in early October. Plus, remember you get 150 games out of the deal.
Here's the official details:

This thing is a 250-watt subwoofer that you bury in the yeard, with only the small top sticking out. I can't wait to see the Youtube video of what happens with eight of these things buried around a patio.
Here's the press release on it:
New Subwoofer Goes "Deep" SpeakerCraft introduces the BoomTomb
RIVERSIDE, CA: September 21, 2010 SpeakerCraft, America's original manufacturer of in-wall speakers announced a new outdoor subwoofer to compliment its Outdoor Elements, Ruckus and OG series speakers. It has been appropriately named the BoomTomb because of the fact that the majority of the enclosure is buried underground with only a small, hooded port exposed above the surface.
"Outdoor audio continues to be a huge category for us" commented Dave Donald, SpeakerCraft's V.P. of Marketing. "Adding critical low end reinforcement to our already broad assortment of exterior loudspeakers is a natural progression and a benefit to dealers who are always looking for ways to improve sound quality outdoors."
The BoomTomb consists of a poly/resin enclosure that houses a ten-inch long throw woofer mounted in a support that is in the center of the internal space. Sound is then vented through a port that extends through the top of the enclosure. The port is the only visible part of the speaker once it is installed. A hood covers the top of the port to protect the internal workings from water and debris. The woofer is powered by a dedicated 250 watt amplifier that is designed to be placed with the source equipment and attached via standard speaker cable.
The BoomTomb will ship in the fourth quarter. Pricing is still to be determined.
Fisker has recently announced that their first factory-built Karma luxury car will debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
The car has a 403hp powerplant, that gets it from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of around 125mph. That's nice and all, but it can also achieve an annual average economy of 100 mpg.
You can read more about the car over at the Fisker site HERE.
Love the look of this bar. Not a whole lot to it, but it has a great style to it. Here's the details:
New Orleans character defines the Bourbon Street Bar from top to bottom. Darkly finished wood curves around the front and has three distinct sections. Curled leaf scrolls are under the stepped pediment and the grooves take your eye to the lower flourishes and the layered foot rest. The countertop surface is black granite for long-lasting strength and a dignified appearance. Crafted from solid Asian hardwoods, this home bar is enhanced by a deep Yorktown Cherry veneer finish.
A spacious service area lets you properly store up to 15 wine bottles. Stemware racks offer lots of space for different types of glasses. Store your favorite liquors on the shelves, and keep tools and accessories in the two drawers. Order this bar and add Southern tradition to your decor. Minimal assembly is required. The bar will ship assembled. Only legs, shelf pegs, and shelves need to be attached.
It might be a little over priced at $1100, but you can check it out over at the Great Home Bars site HERE.
I find this care amazing, Not that I'm going to afford one anytime soon, but still.
The car is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show in about a week, so there should be more details soon. Tough the most important thing is that it has a 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 611hp, with a 0-62 mph time of 3.6 seconds, and a top speed of 195 mph. The price tag on it is $180,000.
I realize that most of you probably aren't Bears fans, which I find horribly misguided, but regardless, you have to admit its a pretty sweet chair.
Here's the details from Amazon:
From hanging out at the stadium to lounging in front of the TV, no one knows sitting quite like a sports fan. Now you can take your seating expertise to the next level with the Dreamseat NFL leather recliner, the ultimate chair for the serious sports fan. Made of high-quality top-grain leather, the chair is extremely comfortable, with a chaise lounge design that provides continuous head-to-toe support when fully reclined. More significantly for NFL fans, the chair offers an embroidered team logo sewn into the back, making it easy to root for your favorite team in front of the HDTV. And users with relatively small TV rooms will love the Wallaway feature, which lets you store the chair just inches from the wall without affecting its ability to recline.
The chair–which also includes a generously sized cup holder in each arm that holds most cans, bottles, and drink cups–measures 34 by 36 by 41 inches (W x H x D) and carries the following warranties: lifetime on the frame, spring system, and reclining mechanism, five years on the cushions, and one year on the fabric.
You can of course get the chair with any NFL team on it, along with any MLB, NBA, or NHL also. The chair isn't going to come cheap of course, costing $999 right now (usually its around $1350), but it is a hell of a nice chair.
You can check out all of the chairs, starting with the Bears one above, over at Amazon here:
