Bernard Hopkins Vs. Roy Jones Jr. – This Saturday

I would agree with anyone that said this is just a fight between a couple of big names, doesn't mean anything, both are years past their prime, and it's more or less for a big payday. Regardless, I still have an interest in this fight. Not positive I'm going to watch it yet, but if there was a bar around that was showing it, I'd be hard pressed not to go. Here's the details:

Three exciting televised fights will warm fans up for the long-awaited rematch between future Hall of Famers Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. "The Rivals: Hopkins vs. Jones II" is scheduled for Saturday, April 3 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and live on pay-per-view.

Heading up this stacked pay-per-view undercard will be a 10-round showdown between talented up and comer Jason Litzau and perennial contender Rocky Juarez for Litzau's NABF super featherweight title. Also featured is the return of former Junior Middleweight World Champion Sergio Mora against veteran Calvin Green and unbeaten Ukrainian prospect Ismayl Sillakh steps up to the big time to face 175-pound standout Daniel Judah in another NABF title bout, this time in the light heavyweight division

"The Rivals: Hopkins vs. Jones II," set for Saturday, April 3 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev., is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Square Ring Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, AT&T and Southwest Airlines. The event will be broadcast live on pay-per-view beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

The HTC EVO 4G Phone

There's still a lot of unknowns with this phone, but on paper, it has a lot of potential.

First, the good stuff.

It has a 4.3-inch screen, a 1GHz processor, runs Android 2.1 OS, and connects up to Sprint's 4G network. You also get not only an 8GB camera, but a 1.3GB camera on the same side as the screen. Then the usual stuff, such as a microSD slot to expand the memory up to 32GB, GPS, WiFi, digital compass, and a micro USB port.

Pretty nice specs, and the 1.3 camera and the 4G speed could make video calls possible. I've also heard good things about HTC phones so far, andthis shouldn't be any different.

Now the bad.

First off, 4G isn't everywhere yet. It's actually pretty limited at the moment, and the Sprint site really doesn't have any lists of when it might be available in your area. That right there cuts down a lot on the coolness factor. Secondly, it's Sprint. Not sure how many of you might like them, but my personal experience is that the only way their customer service could get worse is if they kicked you in the nuts as soon as you walked in the door. It's been almost two years since I had to deal with them though, but I'm not sure this phone is enough to make me want to deal with them again. Let alone dumping my iPhone and joining the Android revolution. If I had 4G in my area, that would really make me look into it, but I don't (according to Sprint's current map), and no idea when that will happen.

After that, it's mostly the unknowns. There's no release date yet (it just says Summer), no pricing, and that sort of stuff. All that will work itself out in the coming months though, along with reviews of the phone itself.

Overall, it's something to keep an eye on.

1001 Beers You Must Taste Before You Die

You need to buy this, and see if you can make it through all 1001. Here's the details:

The world’s best beers—from Europe’s classics to the latest new-wave microbrew sensations. Finally, a book that treats beer as seriously as wine! This latest volume in the acclaimed 1001 series supplies the connoisseurs’ scoop on ferreting out the best among an ever-increasing array of available brews—from exotic foreign beers to the constantly evolving world of American microbrews and homebrews. The book focuses on the world of premium beers—from obscure labels to such traditional yet supremely local brands as Shiner (Austin, Texas), from Czech pilsners to German lagers, Belgian wheat beers, and Trappists ales, not to mention the classic British porters and Irish stouts—every type of beer is covered, making this the "go-to" volume for serious beer lovers. No mere catalogue or encyclopedia, the volume features critical tasting notes and subjective assessments that will help match the right beer to the right occasion. Is this beer light, crisp, and refreshing (good for a picnic), or dry, bitter, and appetizing? Each description includes notes on the flavor and body of the beer, explains why it tastes the way it does, and describes strength and ideal serving temperature.

You can grab one HERE.

P3ProSwing Virtual Golf Simulator

There's a lot of good things said about this set up, and it's not overly expensive. The setups are $900, $1300, or $1500. I really don't think the $1500 one is worth it, as most of the things you get for the extra $200 are things like a year subscription to Golf Digest.

The coolest thing about this is that you can use the setup to play the EA SPORTS' Tiger Woods PGA Tour PC game.

Here's some of the details:

A Digital Picture Of Your Swing Through The Impact Zone
Using the P3ProSwing™, you can see the point of impact and gain additional insight into your club swing and how you impact the ball. You will see visually if your swing path was square through impact, if your club face was square as you made contact with the ball, and what angle of attack your club was on at impact. You can also see where on the club face you made contact with the ball to see if you are using the sweet spot of the club and transferring the most energy you have generated with your swing to the ball.

Detailed Analysis of Swing and Ball Flight Data

In addition to visualization of impact, the P3ProSwing™ provides a full range of information that will help you understand the mechanics of your club through your swing and the resulting ball flight calculations. This information includes: Swing Tempo, Club Head Speed, Toe and Heel Heights, Distance, Right and Left of Path. In addition to the measured information, the P3ProSwing™ calculates total distance, total carry.

See Your Shot

From all the data captured from your swing, the ball flight of your shot is calculated and shown on a driving range, our Highlands National golf course, or on the putting green. The ability of the P3ProSwing™ to predict the shape of the shot is unparalleled. The nuances of fade and draw, push and pull are all generated in a method that delivers a high degree of confidence in the display of the ball flight dynamics.

Highland National Course
Play Golf Anytime Play or practice golf when you want, where you want on the exciting Highlands National golf course. The P3ProSwing™ golf simulator software is so real it's like playing a real course. Highlands national is a 7,393 yard, 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course with 4 tee boxes for each hole. It is a mountain course with water hazards and extensive sand traps that will delight everyone. The state-of-the-art golf simulator graphics are astounding. You can fly over the course and follow the ball in flight. You can even see a replay of your shot.

The 5-Inch zenPad

Not excited about the iPad?Like the iPad, but not the price of one? Just don't want to own anything with a stupid name like iPad?

Well, this might be a cost effective alternative, though not as big.

It only has a five inch screen, but starts at only $155 for the base model. It has built in WiFi, but 3G and GPS will cost you an extra $25 each. Still, you could grab one for $205 total.

You also get: 800-by-480-pixel resolution;  a touchcreen that has a fast response and works smoothly both with fingers and stylus control; The Stylus is included, and stored unobtrusively in a special small hole carved in the back of the device; Google Android 1.6 OS; Onboard embedded 1GB flash drive; 8GB microSD card included. Expandable up to 32GB; Dedicated RAM 256MB DDR; and a High-performance, low-power Samsung 6410, 533/667MHz chip.

Pretty decent. It doesn't have the coolness factor of an iPad (except for the name), but you could get two of these shipped to you for less than a basic iPad model, so I think that's a huge bonus.

You can read all about, and buy one, over at the Enso-now site HERE.

Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey

This sounds like it might be pretty good whiskey, and you can get it in a etched bottle. Here's the details about it:

Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey, by Tuthilltown Spirits, is the first rye whiskey legally made in New York since prohibition and is fast becoming the connoisseur's drink of choice. At 92 proof, the spirit has a slightly spicy, fruity taste, concocted to compliment sweet vermouth in the classic New York??born cocktail, The Manhattan.

Ground, cooked, fermented and double distilled in Gardiner, NY, the bottles are hand filled, capped, waxed and numbered one at a time in limited numbers.

The etching can be either 75 characters of text, or a picture. It's a cool idea for a gift, or just to show people it's you're own personal bottle.

The whiskey costs $51, and the etching costs another $20. You can buy one HERE.

Artisan Fire Pizza Oven

I'd love to get one of these. The great thing about it is that you can just plop it down where ever you want, hook up the gas, and your ready to go. My only issue is that it's very expensive, costing $6,495. Here's the details:

The all-new Artisan Fire Pizza Oven brings old-world pizza making to your outdoor countertop.

Our second generation design delivers great pizzas and an interactive cooking experience with an open front and exposed flame. Engineered for high performance, the oven is ready for use in as little as 20 minutes and bakes a thin-crust pizza in less than 5 minutes.

The Artisan Fire Pizza Oven is the first countertop design to utilize dual burners with individual controls. You can tailor the heat to your liking for a variety of pizza styles, including ultra-thin Neapolitan-style pizzas, Chicago-style deep dish pizzas and perfect calzones.

Two high-performance gas burners empower you to cook with confidence. Adjust the top burner to control the browning of pizza toppings. Adjust the bottom burner to control the crisping of the crust. This ability to change the balance of the heat means you can make any style of pizza and achieve perfect, crispy crusts.

The Outdoor Artisan Pizza Oven by Kalamazoo offers a broad temperature range from 350° to over 800°F.

Open front cooking makes for a more interactive and romantic cooking experience. It also means you can monitor the precise moment the pizzas are ready.

You can check it out at the Kalamazoo Gourmet site HERE.
