Adega Coop. de Borba Wine

Wine Spectator Rates its first bottle of Borba

The wine publication Wine Spectator has rated, for the first time, a wine from the Adega Coop. de Borba in Portugal's Alentejo Region. The magazine reviewed the Adegaborba.pt White 2008 at $8 per bottle and gave it  an 87. Of the wine, they wrote: A rich style, this white offers loads of concentrated pear and baked apple flavors that finish with a flourish of mineral and spice."

Borba is one of Portugal's premier wine producers. Now, through importer L & B Beverage of East Providence RI, they are expanding distribution in the U.S. Market.

Founded in 1955, the Adega Coop. de Borba was the first of a series of cooperatives in the Alentejo region. Today, the Adega Coop. de Borba includes 300 members whose vineyards cover a total area of 2,000 metric acres. About two-thirds are dedicated to red grape varietals and one-third grow white grape varietals.

To continually uphold and improve the quality of their products, the Adega Coop. de Borba strives to inspire the passion of making great wines. After selecting and cultivating the best grape varietals, it is the commitment of the cooperative members that has made Borba a world-class wine.
