LugeCubes

Someone needs to buy one of these, and tell me how well it works. Here's the details:

Quirky’s LugeCubes is a modular ice luge kit that comes with 3 custom mold designs and a drinking spout. Out with the standard shot glasses, it’s time to for the Ultimate Liquor Run.

The durable ice luge molding system lets you build and customize your own ice luge design. The compact cube trays are split into two halves to save storage room in your freezer. We’ve carefully crafted the enclosed tubular luge design to allow the drinker to see the liquor traveling through the ice (READ: easy to imbibe when intoxicated).

We’ve made the drinking spout removable and reusable so you can give it a quick clean between drinkers – mom may not be proud your drinking, but she’ll be glad to know you aren’t spreading H1N1 around your frat house. Your set comes equipped with a pictures only, no reading required, assembly instruction booklet.

You can grab one HERE.

The Macallan 57 Lalique

Macallan has released a special 57 year old single malt whisky. It comes in a Lalique's Finest Cut crystal decanter, and will be available by special order beginning in October.

"In homage to the beauty of Lalique's Finest Cut decanter, we chose a particularly rare 57 years old Macallan single malt whisky," says David Cox, Director of Fine & Rare Whiskies for The Macallan. "It is the second oldest The Macallan whisky ever released, only surpassed in age by the legendary 1926, a 60 year old bottled in 1986."

The decanters are, of course, a limited edition with only 400 being made, and costing around $15,000.

Last Weekend’s Football Picks

I was pretty much terrible last week in my football picks, going a whole 1 for 4. I'm going to have to work a little harder on these.

I was surprised that Penn State chocked again against Iowa. That was just terrible. ND won the game, but didn't cover the point spread as I was afraid they wouldn't They're still playing down to their competition. Florida State losing to South Florida was something I would have never guessed. On the up side, I'm pretty sure that the Saints are a lock for the rest of the year until the point spread starts getting around 15.

Hopefully I do a hell of a lot better next weekend.

HP DreamScreen 100

There's a lot of great features on the DreamScreen. It has a 10.2-inch picture that displays at 800×480, 2GB of storage, 2 USB ports, 6-in-2 Card Reader, 1 Headphone output, built-in Stereo speakers, and 10/100 LAN & Wireless 802.11 b/g, and run it all with the remote control.

With all of that, you can checkout Facebook, listen to music, look at photos, watch video, and even stream all of that from your PC.

It's not a bad price either, at around $230, considering everything you get. You can check out all of the specs at the HP site HERE.

My Weekend Football Picks

Saints vs. Bills

The Saints have a couple of running backs out, and T.O. is always a problem for people, but I still really like the Saints in this one. I think they just have too high powered of an offense to be slowed down too much by the Bills.

Pick: Saints at -7

Florida State Seminoles vs. South Florida Bulls

The line on this game is -15 right now for Florida State. I think this should be a pretty easy game for them. I don't think the 15 points is really that bad. I might put this one in a Parlay though, and take six points, putting the game at -9 for FS.

Pick: Florida State Seminoles at -15

Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Iowa Hawkeyes

The great thing about Penn State I like is that they go out ready for each game. Iowa isn't terrible, but I think Penn State is on a good roll, and will win this one by a few touchdowns.

Pick: Penn State -10

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Purdue Boilermakers -7 1/2

I'm a little hesitant with this pick, but I'm going to go with it. ND seems to have a bad habit of playing down to their competition, and this might be no different. I think the line is a little soft on this one though, because of the last second ND win last week against the Spartans. I think ND is going to take this one by 10 or more.

Pick: Notre Dame Fighting Irish at -7 1/2

Well, there you are. Not a lot of upsets in there or anything, just sticking with the favorite who should beat the spread. I'll try to make it a point to write something up Monday on how I did.

As always, if you have an opinion, feel free to leave a comment. Your comment won't pop up right away, but I'll make sure they get posted, and I'll try to respond.

The iTrip FM Transmitter

I've been looking for one of these, but most everything I've found is around $100, and I just wouldn't use it enough to make it worth the cost. Now there's the iTrip that comes in at a respectable $50. Here's the details:

We've paired a powerful FM transmitter with an intuitive interface so playing your iPhone or iPod on any FM radio (car or home stereo, boombox, whatever) is super easy.

Just plug iTrip into the Dock Connector, press the SmartScan button and you're set. SmartScan finds the clearest frequency in your area to play your music through your car or home stereo speakers without hassles or wires. And Griffin's SmartSound™ adjusts signal strength for the clearest sound possible. Use iTrip's three user-programmable presets to remember your favorite frequencies and recall them with one press of a button.

But there's more to iTrip than just wireless play. We've built in play controls so you can play, pause, skip forward and skip back with a press of a button. And the graphic OLED screen scrolls track or podcast information even when your iPhone or iPod display goes to sleep.

You can read more about it, and buy one, at the Griffin site HERE.

Flask With Playing Cards

This is one of those things I wish I would have thought of. It's pretty much exactly what it looks like:

A flask that holds not only your favorite liquor, but also a deck of playing cards in case a poker game breaks out.

It's made out of stainless steel, and only cost $30. They have them in stock at the moment, but something like this won't last long.

You can go buy yourself one over at the Taylor Gifts site HERE.

Back From Vegas

I've never had a bad time in Vegas. Maybe the one day I was up all night, and then was woken up by my six friends who were heading to the airport 12 hours early because they were all broke, but that was only one day. Up until then, it was a blast.

Anyway, this trip was no different. Had a great time, and did pretty well at the poker tables. Nothing fantastic, but decent. I took in $250 at the cash tables, and in the four tourneys I played in, I came in 18th, 8th, 5th, and 3rd. I only won $220 for third place in the one, and the 5th place finish made me the bubble boy, which still upsets me. They were all 30-60 person tournaments, so nothing huge. I just didn't have the time to hit the bigger ones that have a $125+ entry fee and 100 people in them. Still, not a bad haul for only playing here and there.

Yes, I did totally miss putting up any football picks. Not that it would have helped at all. The picks I made in Vegas all went three for four or five in my parlays. I need to learn to just beat the teams strait up, and I'd do a shole hell of a lot better.

I know you've heard it all before, but I'll try to get my picks up this week. Maybe not the whole list of teams this time around, but just my picks. Makes it a lot easier.

Any suggestions for the upcoming week?
