Black Box Wines

It seems that a lot of wine makers are getting creative with how they offer their wine. Such a company is Black Box Wines.

Black Box states that the wines will stay fresh in the box up to four weeks after opening. Plus, there's the environmental concerns, in that the box requires less energy to produce and transport.

All that's great, but what I really like is when they say "because we’re not paying for expensive glass, we can offer you four bottles worth of fine wine for the cost of two.". Now that part makes perfect sense to me.

Black Box gets their grapes from a number of areas, including Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Italy and New Zealand.

Now normally wine in a box is looked down on. First off, you're not going to keep a box of wine around for several years until it's perfect. It's made to drink as soon as you buy it. However, the Reserve Merlot was ranked #12 in Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Best Buys of 2008. They've also won 13 Gold Medals.

You can hit their site and check them out HERE.
