Instant Action Games

I was a big fan of the game Tribes when it came out quite a while ago. I tried the gaming site Instant Action, because they currently have a game called Fallen Empire: Legions, that is very close to the original Tibes game.

I've been playing it, and a few other at the site, and I'm hooked. Here's a little bit about Instant Action:

Gaming technology on the web is changing. InstantAction is bringing 3-D multi-player console-like games to the web, playable through a browser. The platform brings together the best of gaming with the best of the web, combining the web's accessibility and social interaction with high end graphics and competitive gameplay. This will appeal to hardcore gamers who find the games more accessible than expensive console games, international gamers who don't have access to consoles, and former core gamers who have careers or families and no longer have as much time to pour into the gigantic game experiences they used to. We have cracked some daunting technology hurdles to bring the type of games serious gamers like to the web.

Since many of our games are online and multi-player, we have designed a social environment that makes it easy for friends to connect and jump into a game. In addition, with InstantAction's unique lobby approach, it is easy to move from game to game with your party. Being on the Web also enables us to do what we call "live development," where we take active and passive feedback from our players to continually update/improve levels, storylines and gamers will no longer have to wait for a sequel to keep a game fresh.

They currently have eight games that you can play, and you can check them out at the Instant Action site HERE.

Froch TKOs Taylor

I wonder if this fight pretty much means the end of Taylor?

From the reviews, Taylor was ahead in the fight. Froch won the fight, with only 14 seconds left in the last round, when the ref stopped the fight. Taylor was ahead on two of the score cards, 106-102 and 106-102, so if the ref had let the fight keep going just the last 14 seconds, taylor would have won.

Carl Froch retained his World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight world title, and moved up to 26-0, with 21 KOs.

You can read all of the details over at East Side Boxing HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Thoughts On The Draft

Well, none of the interesting things I thought might happen, actually happened. The only moderate surprise was that the Jets were the team that traded up and picked up Mark Sanchez. It'll be interesting to see if Sanchez was worth it.

You can check out all of the draft picks over at ESPN HERE, and of course read all of the analysts thoughts on who did a good job, and who didn't.

NFL Draft Day

If you don't know that the NFL draft is on today at 4pm ET, you should be ashamed. I'm really looking forward to the draft this year, even though the Bears only have a second round pick today, because of the trade for Jay Cutler, which I think was a great idea.

Matt Stafford is already going to be the official #1 pick for the Lions, and he's sign a huge contract, a six-year, $72 million dollar deal with $41.7 million guaranteed.

Things To Watch:

1. I think Braylon Edwards will get traded to someone for some picks, and the Giants are in the lead right now. Browns fans really want to maybe get the Giants first round #28 pick for him, but I really think the Giants should stuck to their guns, grab a WR at #28, and keep the 2nd and 5th round offer out there until Cleveland blinks.

2. Where will Mark Sanchez go? The guy played only 16 games, on a great team, yet everyone was talking about him like he's the second coming. A lot of people have him going to Seattle at #4, which I don't think would be horrible in that he could hang out on the bench for a year or two until Hasselbeck retires, or breaks for good.

3. Will Boldin get traded? Arizona have actually lowered their asking price from the WR, so there's a chance that someone jumps at it.

4. Will Brady Quinn get traded? Not sure that anyone is going to give up much for Quinn, but with Stafford already gone, if there's someone that really wants a QB, and Sanchez actually gets picked up, you might see something crazy happen. I doubt it, but we'll see.

Should be an interesting first day.

Jermain Taylor Vs. Carl Froch This Saturday

I'm somewhat interested in this fight. I like Taylo, and I'd like to see him do well. Here's the details from the fight pulled from the Showtime site:

A household name in his native England, talented, undefeated Carl Froch will look to make a major statement — and enhance his reputation in America — when he defends his WBC super middleweight title against one of the most highly regarded and recognizable fighters of this generation, former undisputed middleweight belt-holder Jermain Taylor. The task, however, will not be simple for Froch, who won the 168-pound title one start after appearing on ShoBox: The New Generation. Taylor, a bronze medalist for the United States in the 2000 Olympic Games, has had a prolific pro career. Taylor, who earned this shot by dominating Jeff Lacy, has defeated four former world champions and is the only boxer to twice whip future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins. The winner of what will be an excellent scrap could fight next in a world title elimination bout in a division that is one of the deepest, most interesting in boxing today. You can bet that current super middle champs Mikkel Kessler and Lucian Bute will be riveted to their television sets to watching Froch-Taylor — and so should you!

The fight is this Saturday, and begins at 9PM ET.

The SHS-1210 Digital Door Lock

The Samsung SHS-1210 is being billed as the thinnest door lock with an integrated touch sensor in the world.

The lock is made of an aluminum alloy, less than a inch thick, and has a touch sensitive keypad. The keypad is made of a black tempered glass, that only becomes visible when the control button is pressed. The digital lock also has a fire detection and an anti-electric shock function up to 30,000 volts.

If you don't want to always have to use the keypad, you can also open the door using a T-money card issued by Korea Smart Card, credit card, or key tag.

As far as I can tell, the lock isn't available yet, but should be coming soon.
