I wouldn't mind getting an electric car at some point for around town or back and forth to work. Right now, the Tesla Model S is the car to have. From the Tesla site:
With a 300-mile range and 45-minute QuickCharge, the $49,900 Model S can carry five adults and two children in quiet comfort – and you can charge it from any outlet, without ever stopping for gas. World’s first mass-produced electric vehicle offers performance, efficiency and unrivaled utility, making it the only car you’ll ever need.
It's not a speed demon, but it will get you from 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds, which is a decent time. It also has a top speed of 120mph. The 45-minute charge time is pretty impressive, and the site states that you can actually change out the battery in five minutes. I'd love to see how that's done.
If nothing else impresses you, this should: You can listen to Pandora Radio or consult Google Maps on the 17 inch touchscreen with in-car 3G connectivity.
The base model is currently projected to be $57,400, but like all Tesla vehicles, it qualifies for the full $7,500 US federal tax credit on battery-powered cars.
You can check it out over at the Tesla site HERE.

Not too sure about this one. I like the overall look of the watch, but the huge numbers on the dial bother me for some reason. Her's some details from the manufacturer:
Movement: 6 Hand Japanese Quartz With Second Subdial Chrono
Case: Custom 300 Meter Stainless Steel With Hardened Mineral Crystal, External Rotating Bezel With Countdown Timer, 9:00 Crown Positioning
Band: Custom Injected Polyurethane With Patented Locking Looper.
The watch is also big, measuring 47-54mm from the 3 to 9 o'clock position, which I like.
There's three different models for the watches, and the one shown here is the all black, which costs around $370. There's not a whole lot more information on the Nixon site, but you can check it out HERE.

Normally the cars I mention on here are well out of most people's price range, but they do come fully built.
Not so with the GTM Supercar. What you're buying is basically a kit that you can build yourself, and then slap an engine into it. They recommend putting a C5 Corvette engine in the car, or the LS1 or LS6 from the Z06 Corvette. If you use the C5 engine with 350hp, along with the car's curb weight of 2,240 lbs, esitmates are that you should be able to go from 0-60 somewhere around 3.5 seconds, and do the quarter mile in around 11 seconds. Obviously if you get the Z06 engine, those times will be even more impressive.
The price of the kit is $19,990, and over 6,000 of them have been sold to date. After all is said and done, estimates are that you can completely build the car for somewhere between $35,000 and $45,000, and take around 250-300 hours to complete. Not exactly cheap, but it will be a unique ride.
You can check out this car, and the several other kits that they have, at the Factory Five website HERE.

EV Innovations has created a new electric supercar named the Liv Inizio. Estimates say that the car should get from 0-62mph in four seconds, with a top speed of 159mph.
Overall the numbers aren't anything all that new, but what is significant is that the makers claim that the car will have a 200 mile range. That puts it will ahead of most cars in this class that have only a 50 mile range.
The car is set to be priced at $139,000, and will make it's debut at the New York Car Show in April.

Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction are heading out on tour this year, and to get things going, they are offering 21 free song, six of which are brand new.
The two new NIN songs are "Not So Pretty Now" and "Non-Entity", the two by reunited group Jane's are "Whores" and "Chip Away,", which were back-catalog songs that Trent Reznor produced on, and finally two by tour-opener Street Sweeper, which is Rage Against the Machine's guitarist Tom Morello's side project. If your a fan of either NIN or Jane's, you probably already have the rest of thefree songs. If your copies aren't the greatest though, these songs are being offered in three DRM-free formats: MP3, FLAC and better-than-CD 24/96 WAVE files.
The tour kicks off on May 8th in Florida and finishes up on June 12th in North Carolina.
You can check out all of the sings at the NIN/JA site HERE, and look through the tour dates and buy tickets to the shows HERE.

I'm really not sure if this is a really simple but good idea, or a complete rip-off. If anyone has actually used one of these, let me know how it worked for you. It sounds pretty good on paper:
"Whether you are a connoisseur, an enthusiast or a casual admirer of wine, one truth remains: the delicate taste profiles of wine change upon exposure to oxygen. That means wine is best enjoyed within a few hours of being opened. If not properly preserved, wine can go bad in as little as 2 to 8 hours. PlatyPreserve is the best way to protect the taste of an opened bottle of wine by completely eliminating the presence of oxygen. While alternative methods might have you pump air out of the bottle or inject gas into the bottle – PlatyPreserve has you transfer your un-finished wine into an air tight reservoir to truly protect the taste of your wine so it may be enjoyed several days or even weeks later. With PlatyPreserve, you can open a bottle of wine, if only to enjoy one glass."
Alright, so how does it accomplish all that? Well, you pour the wine into the PlatyPreserve, put the cap on loosely, and then squeeze the air out of it. Once the air is gone, you tighten the cap. As the web site points out, "Since PlatyPreserve is a flexible container, the air can be removed from the wine by simply squeezing the container to expel ALL of the air."
In theory, it should work. Other products use a pump to get rid of the air, or even replace it with another gas that won't hurt the wine. It just seems like it would be too simple to work.
If you're interested in one, you can hit the web site HERE to read more about it, or just go ahead and buy one over at Amazon HERE for $12.

You know, I like my wine, I really like my vodka, but I think scotch/whisky will always hold a special place in my heart. Unfortunetly for me, I don't think I'm going to be in Chicago next week.
I do think it's sort of bad idea to hold this on a Wednesday, but what the hell. Here's the details of the Chicago WhiskyFest:
America's Largest Whisky Celebration
WhiskyFest Chicago will feature more than 200 of the world's finest, rarest, and most expensive, single malt and blended Scotch, Irish, bourbon, Tennessee, Japanese, Welsh, Canadian and other whiskies from around the world to sample in one Grand Ballroom. High-end rums, tequilas beer and other spirits will be represented as well.
The focus is on education, and many distillery representatives will be on hand at the pouring booths to explain how the whiskies are made. Seminars, many featuring their owns tastings, run throughout the evening. Meet distinguished members of the whisky community, and learn first-hand how their brands are made.
Attendees will also enjoy an expansive gourmet buffet all evening, plus coffee, tea, water and soda. Each attendee receives a commemorative Glencairn whisky glass for tastings.
The event is being held on April 1st. VIP tickets are sold out, but it looks like you can still grab a regular ticket for $95 HERE.
