The Alpine iXA-W404
Ever since I bought an iPhone, I've been more and more interested in listening to it than CDs. Not only would this be perfect, but it's also incredibly cool. Here's some of the details pulled from the Alpine site:
For the ultimate in-vehicle experience with your iPod® or iPhone®, Alpine’s new generation 2-DIN iPod Digital Media Station is the answer. The iXA-W404 features a brand-new touch-screen graphical user interface (GUI) that works similar to the iPhone® and iPod Touch. This head unit is a dedicated media station that provides seamless control of your iPod, iPhone and many other popular digital devices right from your dash. The iXA-W404 Digital Media Station offers new and enhanced features for a more robust iPod-listening experience that meets the specifications for “Made for iPod” and “Works with iPhone” compatibility.
The ultra-responsive touch-screen lets you quickly browse through your file collection by lightly dragging the on-screen album covers with a finger. The current album is shown in the center of the screen, with the previous two albums/songs and next two album/songs on either side of the current selection. The screen also can be customized to show the following: Album Art plus song and track information, Large Album Art image and song name, Large clock display, Photo viewer, and Calendar.
There's also a number of add on modules that you can buy, that add features like HD Radio, Satellite Radio (both Sirius and XM), a steering wheel remote, full GPS navigation, a bluetooth hands-free phone, a quality sound add-on that "corrects all the acoustic problems in your vehicle for ideal sound clarity and imaging", and a power booster.
You can read all about it over at the Alpine site HERE. The base unit is currently $550.00, and will be available around the end of April.
