The SmartGauge Video Instrument Panel

If the Ford Motor Company has created the SmartGauge Video Instrument Panel which is set to be rolled out in their 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids.

The system has a conventional speedometer in the middle, with video screens on either side of it. The screen will show you read outs about your battery-charge status, tachometer, engine output power, accessory power consumption, and amount of power applied to the wheels. It also has EcoGuide, which shows your impact on the environment, along with charts and graphs about the information.

The system can be changed around to only show you what you want to see, so you can focus only on what's important to you, such as how many miles until your tank is empty.

You can go over to the Dvice site HERE to watch a video of the SmartGauge in action.

I'm not sure this is really going to make me go out and buy either of the mentioned cars, but hopefully these start popping up in all of their models sometime soon.
