New Whiskey-Beer Hybrid
I can't say for sure how this would actually taste, but for me, it's at least a damn good idea and well worth giving it a shot.
Fuller’s, which owns 360 pubs across the South of England, has created a Whiskey-Beer Hybrid which they've named Brewer’s Reserve.
Brewer’s Reserve is the result of four years work by Fuller’s head brewer John Keeling, to create an ale that would have some of the characteristics of a single malt Whiskey.
The beer is made first, and then it's matured for more than 500 days in 30-year-old scotch whiskey casks. The whiskey that's being used is currently being kept a secret by Fuller's.
“The idea of aging beer in whiskey casks sounds simple but we hard to work hard to make sure we were in line with Customs,” said Keeling.
“We tried many different recipes. The one we selected has rich, tangy marmalade flavors along with vanilla notes from the oak and a wonderful hint of whiskey.”
Brewer’s Reserve is available in 25,000 individually numbered bottles, that comes in it's own presentation box. As far as I know, these will be sold only in the Fuller’s Pubs, so unless you're already in England, or visiting soon, you'll probably have to track someone down to buy it and ship it to you.
