The Vintage Vac Automatic Wine Preservation Vacuum

I started on this wine kick today, and so I just sort of rolled with it. Here's another little handy gadget for wine lovers:

Push, twist, preserve—viola! Save opened wine for another time, and toast at just the right temp! Simply insert in an opened bottle and twist. The vacuum pump automatically suctions air out to prevent wine from oxidizing, while the digital temperature display (°F/°C) informs you when it's time to enjoy another glass! Suggested serving temps on back. Takes 2 AA batteries.

I've posted a few other wine preservation vacuums on here, and they're probably all a lot more impressive than this one. However, if you're looking for something a little more basic, and a lot less costly, this one might be a good buy.

You can buy one over at Wine Enthusiast HERE for $40.

Wine Thermometer

Not exactly all that exciting, but I thought I would throw it up here anyway. Here's all about it from the site:

Enjoy wine at the perfect drinking temperature using this minimalist digital thermometer which easily attaches to the bottle. Includes instructions that provide ideal serving temperatures for different types of wine and a battery that lasts approximately 2000 hours. Temperature measured in Fahrenheit. Made of stainless steel and plastic.

It'll only set up back $36, and if you're really into wine, it might be worth it. You can buy one at the MoMA store HERE.

The Ravi Instant Wine Chiller

The idea is pretty sound, but I'd much rather chill my wine first, and then pour. I decided to post this for two reasons though. One, I guess it would do in a pinch, and two, it's also supposed to work with Vodka. Here's the details:

Chills wine instantly as you pour. Wine goes from room temp to serving temp in seconds! Remove your Ravi from the freezer, insert it in your bottle, and pour. Wine passes through the frozen steel chamber inside into your glass, chilling your red or white to perfection (similar to the way the frozen tub of an ice cream maker turns cream into a cool dessert). Finger tip-control air inlet helps you adjust serving temp and prevent dripping. Give your vodka a quick chill, too—pour it through Ravi and enjoy!

It's priced at $50, and you can buy one over at the Wine Enthusiast site HERE. They also have a little video showing you how it works if you're interested.

The SmartGauge Video Instrument Panel

If the Ford Motor Company has created the SmartGauge Video Instrument Panel which is set to be rolled out in their 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids.

The system has a conventional speedometer in the middle, with video screens on either side of it. The screen will show you read outs about your battery-charge status, tachometer, engine output power, accessory power consumption, and amount of power applied to the wheels. It also has EcoGuide, which shows your impact on the environment, along with charts and graphs about the information.

The system can be changed around to only show you what you want to see, so you can focus only on what's important to you, such as how many miles until your tank is empty.

You can go over to the Dvice site HERE to watch a video of the SmartGauge in action.

I'm not sure this is really going to make me go out and buy either of the mentioned cars, but hopefully these start popping up in all of their models sometime soon.

The Tesla Model S All-Electric 4-door Sedan

The is the first look at the at the planned Tesla Model S. The car is the next step by the Tesla Motor Company and is an all electric four-door 5-passenger car.

It's range is a little less than the popular Tesla Roadster, but you'll still reportedly get about 225 miles per full charge (though I've also seen it reported at 240 miles per charge). The car is of course a little slower off the line, but can still reach 60 mph in about six seconds.

The car is set to hit the market in 2010, and the expected price is around $60,000.

The iEverything Compatible Aerosystem

This music speaker system sounds like it would be worth having, and I must admit, it's very stylish looking.

Developed by Jean-Michel Jarre, the Aerosystem is designed to deliver high-quality sound for even the most picky audiophiles.

Contrary to other traditional enclosures, the system's electronic circuit signal processing restores low and treble frequencies perfectly for all your MP3 encoding. The system is also enclosed in ultra-resistant glass with an integrated amplifier at it's base. Total height of the system is around three and a half feet, so you can stand it up just about anywhere.

It comes in either black or silver, and is compatible with 4th and 5th generation iPods, the iPod mini, iPod nano, iPod touch, and the iPhone 3G. If you don't have some version of the iPod or an iPhone, you can still hook the system up to any music device via a built in USB port.

The Aerosystem is selling for 449 Euros, which translates to about $573 USD. The web site seilling it is all in French, and I'm not sure if they ship over seas or not, but you can hit the site HERE and maybe run the text through Babelfish to work your way through purchasing one.

Wall Street’s $1 Million Fantasy League

Nothing like have lots of money to throw around. The Wall Street Journal recently had an article about a super exclusive Fantasy Football League that's costs it's ten owners $100,000 a piece to play each season. Here's a little bit from the article:

The financial crisis has been scorching investors around the globe. But through it all, some of the world's wealthiest financiers still have enough money to play in one of Wall Street's most exclusive and secretive competitions: A fantasy football league where the total purse is $1 million.

According to one league member who declined to be identified, the participants have decided not to expand beyond 10 teams, and there's a waiting list to get in. "We're not trying to exclude people," the person said. "It's just boys being boys."

According to two participants and several business associates of league members, each of its 10 teams pays $100,000 to enter. The winner takes home a grand prize of $600,000, with $300,000 going to the second-place finisher and $100,000 for third place.

Participants say the winnings are donated to charity. The top three finishers choose which philanthropies receive their prize money. A spokesman for Goldman Sachs said Mr. Daffey donated his share last year to charities related to "children's causes," although he would not identify which ones. In 2004, when Mr. Rajaratnam won the league, he says all the prize money was donated to Tsunami Relief Inc., a charity he founded to benefit victims of the storm that killed nearly 200,000 people in southeast Asia.

Supercarmovies Releases Nurburgring SUPERTEST Videos

It started out with one well to do gentlemen, who happened to own a few of the greatest supercars of the modern era and lived near Nürburgring, bringing those cars out to push them to the limit. That recently happened, and the good people over at Supercarmovies filmed the whole thing.

The Supercarmovies site already had film of the Lamborghini LP640, Weismann GT, and most recently the Chevy Corvette Z06. Now, thanks to said well to do gentleman, they've added the Maserati MC12, Ferrari Enzo, Koenigsegg CCX, Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and Porsche Carrera GT to the list. All the cars were driven on the same day, by the same driver, with the same conditions, to see which car comes out on top.

You can hit the Supercarmovies site HERE to see the outcome.
