Buy Shea Stadium Memorabilia
If you're a baseball fan, and certainly if you (like myself) are a Mets fan, you've heard that Shea Stadium is no more. As with anything that has sentimental value to people, they are auctioning it off.
To be part of the auction, you need some up front cash, and it goes in levels:
Platinum - $10,000 minimum purchase deposit (MPD)
Gold - $5,000 minimum purchase deposit (MPD)
Silver - $2,500 minimum purchase deposit (MPD)
Here's how it works:
This is NOT A FEE, but a non-refundable deposit towards your intended purchases. No matter which level you choose, 100% of your money goes towards what you buy. If you want to spend more than your MPD, you can pay the balance after your Tour. Platinum members will tour the stadium first, followed by Gold and then Silver members. Tours will be conducted while the Mets are on the road in September. Club members will be given a specific date and time for the Shea Memorabilia Tour, in order of minimum purchase deposit. The higher the minimum purchase deposit, the earlier your opportunity to reserve the items you want. And Club Members who choose the same MPD will get their Club Number on a first-come, first-served basis. So the sooner you sign up, the earlier you will get to tour Shea Stadium to make your selections.
If you want to see a full list of items that are up for sale, you can go HERE. Some of the more notable ones, with their starting bid price, are:
Mets Dugout = $100,000
1969 World Championship Flag = $50,000
Johan Santana (Willie Mays, Roger McDowell, Mike Piazza) locker = $50,000
Outfield Wall Panel 371 = $5,000
