The James Bond DBS Watch
I'm not actually sure that the watch really has all that much to do with the James Bond movies, but since he's driven the DBS in the last and upcoming movie, and the fact that the watch has a gadget element to it, maybe everyone is just assuming. Though if I had the cash for a DBS, this watch would almost be a must.
Swiss watch maker Jaeger-LeCoultre has designed a watch for the owners of a Aston-Martin DBS, which controls access to the car. The AMVOX2 DBS Transponder watch is a fusion of traditional watch-making expertise and high-tech engineering. The chronograph integrates a transponder circuit into its case that will lock and unlock the luxury sports car, while maintaining the functions of its famous vertical-trigger mechanism. As a driver nears the car, all they need to do is press the OPEN touch sensitive control on the watch glass (between 8 and 9 o’clock) in order to activate the door opening system, and press the CLOSE control between 3 and 4 o’clock to close the vehicle.
The case and dial of the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder are highly detailed, featuring a suspended metallic grey DBS symbol, a discrete Aston Martin emblem on the movement operating indicator, with a satin finish and a black dial that all evoke the DBS’s instrument panel. The outer dial ring also has an opening that reveals the internal mechanisms of the chronograph.
Jerome Lambert, chief Executive Officer of Jaeger-Le-Coultre said: “This is one of the most exciting projects our team has developed in the area of functional innovation in watchmaking. The collaboration with all levels of the Aston Martin organization has been deep and exhilarating, and no doubt this transpires in the breakthrough nature and design of the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder itself.” The masterpiece is the result of over 18 months of dedicated work by Jaeger-Le-Coultre.
The luxurious timepiece will be available around the end of the year for approximately $40,000.
