The New Apple 3G iPhone – $199

The new Apple iPhone was announced today at WWDC 2008 by Steve Jobs. Here are the highlights:

– Will hit the shelves July 11th in 22 countries.

– The 8GB version is $199 and the 16GB version is $299.

– It has thinner edges, a full plastic back and a flush headphone jack.

– Has the iPhone 2.0 firmware.

–  It will run 3rd party applications.

– The battery life has been improved with 300 hours of standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio.

– The 3G pageload speeds are said to be 36% faster than the N95 and Treo 750, and 2.8 times faster than EDGE.

– Does have GPS built in, and also gets data from cell towers and wi-fi.

– Sega, Pangea and Digital Legends Entertainment showed off new games.

The only bad thing I've heard of thus far is there's still no front facing camera.
