The AMVOX 3 Tourbillon

Jaeger LeCoultre’s latest watch from its AMVOX collection is the AMVOX 3 Tourbillon GMT. The watch was was made in a collaboration between both Jaeger LeCoultre and Aston Martin, and is pretty impressive. The watch features the automatic JLC caliber 988 tourbillon movement which displays whether it is AM or PM, a driving two time-zone displays, a date display that makes a large jump between the 31st day and the 1st day of each month so as not to obstruct the full view of the tourbillon mechanism, and a power reserve of forty eight hours. The case is ceramic with eighteen karat rose gold highlights and double sapphire crystals. the Jaeger LeCoultre AMVOX 3 Tourbillon GMT is a limited edition watch, and only 300 will be made.

You can read about the watch in more detail over at Horomundi HERE, and see more pictures of the watch, including the open back of the watch, at the Luxurylaunches site HERE.

Classic Car Auction

Art Astor's museum, the Astor Classics Event Center, has displayed one of the most extensive collections of drivable vintage and classic automobiles and communications devices in the world. This year, more than 250 automobiles and 1,100 lots of memorabilia from that collection will be up for auction, due to a downsizing.

Not only are these rare and noteworthy, but most have a history or a story that makes it special. There is a restored 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom I that was owned by Hollywood's first cowboy movie star Tom Mix. A 1940 Cadillac Series 75 Formal Sedan built for Howard Hughes and a one-off 1948 Hudson limousine. There is even a microphone that was once owned by Elvis Presley.

Ian Kelleher, managing director of RM Auctions said, "The Astor Collection is perhaps one of the most diverse, highly original and extremely well maintained collections of its kind ever offered to the public," said Kelleher. "Those who have been fortunate to visit the museum over the years can attest to the significance and importance of this great American collection" he added.

This no-reserve auction will be held in Anaheim, California, on June 27-29 2008.

Peugeot 308 RC Z Coupe Entering Production

Peugeot debuted it's 308 RC Z coupe concept at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and few thought that the car would ever enter production. In a surprise move however, Peugeot has confirmed the car will be a production model and could be ready to go as early as next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

One of the 308's main backers is Peugeot’s new CEO Christian Streiff, whose interest in the original concept is the main reason things are moving forward, and the car is set to hit the showroom floors in early 2010.

The production car will be a lot like the concept that inspired it, and will ride on a lightened chassis and based on the 308 hatch. The engine will probably be the same 1.6L supercharged engine that the smaller 207 RC currently has but power is expected to be boosted to around 220hp. Reports have the car currently priced at around $35,000, but that of course is subject to change between now, and when the first car rolls off the assembly line.

You can catch more pictures of the 308 RC Z Coupe concept over at the Motor Authority site HERE.

Cigar Jack Reviews

It's been a while since I was over at Cigar Jack's site to see what new reviews he had. I've been a huge slacker in my cigar smoking over the 6 plus months, partly because of the Ohio smoking ban, partly because the new wife hates them and partly because it's not exactly fun to be hanging out on the patio in the dead of winter to smoke one. Although I must admit, one of the best times I had recently in Vegas was playing Blackjack, smoking an Ashton cigar and drinking martinis. Recent reviews from Cigar Jack:

The Nub Connecticut

Jameson Short Torpedo

The Perdomo Habano Maduro

The Punch Cafe Royal Maduro

On a side note, Cigar Jack is also looking for some people to help write some articles, reviewing Alcohols/Coffee/Cigars/Pipes. If you're interested, you can hit the site HERE to read the details.

The Indiana Jones Travel Experiences

One of the many movie tie-ins for the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, opening May 22nd, is Expedia's new India Jones Adventure Tours. The tours are all inspired from the four movies, and will take you to India, Egypt, Italy, Nepal, China, Peru, Jordan, Mexico and the U.S. Southwest. The trips run anywhere from six to twelve days in length, and cost between $2000 and $3500. Expedia has also ranked them by trip style (guided to independent), it's culture shock rating and it's adventure and physical toll rating, so you can pick something appropriate.

There's also a Quest for the Golden Suitcase contest going on. You can play each day at the site, and the grand prize is any two of the India Jones Adventure Tours. If you register, you can also win one of 1400 instant prizes, and an "ultimate movie adventure" trip to California.

You can hit the Expedia site HERE to read all about the trips, and go HERE to enter the contest. The contest site has some Indiana Jones music playing, so you might want to turn down the sound if you're at work.

The MANSORY Ferrari 599 GTB “Stallone”

Yesterday I showed you the Renovatio, and today it's another upscaled car from MANSORY, the "Stallone". The car is based off the Ferrari 599 GTB, and has been given an F1-inspired aero body kit. Much like the Renovatio, the engine has also been upgraded with a better supercharger and various other tweaks to take the 6.0L V12 engine from 620 horsepower, up to an impressive 720 horsepower.

You can check out more pics of this car over at the Autoblog site HERE.

Full Swing Golf Course Simulator

The Full Swing Golf simulator stands 13 feet wide, 20 feet long, and 10.5 feet high, and lets you play 50 courses such as  Pebble Beach and St. Andrews, from the comfort of your own home. I've written about this setup before, and it looks like it's just gotten better over time.

With the system, you hit a golf ball normally, and 688 different sensors and a Windows PC figure out the ball's trajectory. That's then translated to the life sized photo realistic screen to show you where your ball actually goes. Just like it would if you were really on the course.

The simulator comes with a couple of nice additions in it's newest incarnation. First is the practice program that lets you hit drives, approach shots, uphill/downhill shots, and hundreds of other situations. It also shows you the ball's flight, and keeps your overall stats. The second is the addition of online tournaments. You can play 3, 6, 9, or 18 holes, and closest to the pin with other people from around the world.

The price for this much machine isn't cheap, coming in at about $55,000, and you can learn more about it at the Full Swing Golf site HERE.

The MANSORY McLaren SLR “Renovatio”

The company MANSORY has created the McLaren SLR Renovatio. The car is based on the Mercedes-Benz supercar, but has been upgraded with carbon fiber pieces, lighter wheels and a new body kit that makes the car look even more impressive. Not content just to upgrade the looks of the car, they've also upgraded the engine's supercharger and intercoolers. That boosts the 5.5L V8 up to 700 horsepower.

You can check out more pictures of the car over at the Autoblog site HERE.
