The Merium Home Entertainment PC

I've been interested in getting something like this for a while, since I think it would be great to use the PC on the big TV, without having to get up and go into the computer room to look something up. This just might fit the bill. From the web site:

Ever wanted to combine the following; media entertainment, a safe place for your valuable digital content and a piece of great looking furniture? Mesiro, an innovative provider of digital media solutions with outstanding Scandinavian design, is now launching one combined solution addressing it all – The Mesiro Merium.

The Mesiro Merium meets consumer needs for a digital all-in-one solution that offers a user friendly way to enjoy and experience media at home. This innovative Home Entertainment PC enables you to take full advantage of the Internet in your living room, as well as enjoying your music, photos or camera recordings on your flat screen TV. The Merium is always ready to display entertaining media just one click away.

The technical specs on this isn't bad, though the video card isn't the greatest. The system costs $999 which is also a little pricey.

You can read more about the Merium at their website HERE.

Gallo Tries Their Hand At Gin

Ernest and Julio Gallo, who is well known for their wine, has decided to try their hand at making Gin. They've created New Amsterdam Strait Gin, which is considered a premium gin that will cost between $13 and $14 and is flavored with juniper berries and has a touch of citrus.

"We see a great opportunity to launch a new, contemporary American presentation of gin due to its recent revitalization as a fashionable spirit with a growing consumption," said Renato Reyes, senior director of marketing for the brand.

The New Amsterdam name is a nod to the Dutch style of gin-making. The product was test-marketed last year and in January began a yearlong national rollout.

Gallo is not disclosing how much of the gin it is making. It's being produced in Modesto, but the number of employees involved was not available. The source of the grain Gallo plans to use also wasn't disclosed. Gallo, founded 75 years ago this summer by the late Ernest and Julio Gallo, has created or acquired more than 40 wine brands. It is the world's second-largest producer by volume, trailing only Constellation Brands.

Doyle Brunson’s Blog

Regardless if you're looking for poker advice, or you just want a good read, it doesn't get much better that a blog by Doyle Brunson.  He now has a poker blog over at Bluff Magazine, and it seems that it's getting updated pretty regularly so far as there's been 13 entries since March 12th.

Each post gives a "Doylism" of the day (which are pretty good) and then a good sized article about what he's doing at the moment. All the posts are a pretty good read, so it's well worth checking them out.

My favorite Doylism so far is “The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.”

You can read the blog over at the Bluff Magazine site HERE

Aquariums As A Work of Art

Aqua Forest Aquarium is a unique retail aquarium store located in the San Francisco Bay Area. While a lot of aquariums can be nice to look at, AFA goes the extra mile and works to transform it into a three dimensional living piece of art. They do this by creating "planted" aquariums that is an ecosystem within the tank, and using high quality materials and systems.

Not sure about the price of one of these, but I'm sure it all depends on what you want in it. It's well worth to go take a look at their gallery HERE, and see some of the creations they've made.  You can also hit the main website HERE (it has some music tha tyou can turn off, but you might want to turn down your speakers if your at work).

Geely GT Concept

With car show season in full swing, there have been a lot of interesting cars pop up. This one is the Geely GT concept car that will make it's first appearance at the Beijing Auto Show that will be held on April 20-28.

Little is known about the cars stats at the moment, but this and a few other pictures have leaked out, and they look impressive. The look reminds me a lot of Aston Martin’s V8 Vantage, so I'm very interested to see the details.

You can read a little more about the car, and see the other pictures of it, at the Motor Authority site HERE.

The Saleen S5S Raptor

Although I've never been a fan of painting a car yellow, the Raptor is still impressive. Developed as a collaboration between Saleen and specialty builder ASC, the car is both high tech and a little old school. The aluminum chassis allows the supercharged 2-seater to go from 0-60 in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed over 200mph. The car currently has a six-speed manual gearbox, but a paddle-shifting sequential is also in the works and may be ready when the car goes into production in 2010. When it hits the streets, the current projected price will be $185,000.

You can check out more pictures of the car over at Uncrate HERE, or the Autoblog site HERE.
