Perfect Escapes Vegas Contest

I thought I would throw this one up here, as a bonus today, even though there's a big catch to this trip, no airfare. They'll treat you pretty well once you're in Vegas, but you have to figure out how to get there on your own. Kind of cheap if you ask me, seeing as how they're throwing out $800 for food and shopping, you think they could drop one of those and actually fly you out. Anyway…

The winner will receive Three consecutive nights lodging for two in a Salon Suite at the Wynn Las Vegas; A $400 dinner credit redeemable toward a dinner for two at the SW Steakhouse at the Wynn; A $400 credit redeemable toward Wynn spa services or shopping; Two tickets for the Le Rêve show at the Wynn Las Vegas during the stay; and limousine transportation to and from McCarran Airport in Las Vegas.

The contest ends March 31, 2008, and you can enter HERE.

Jose Cuervo 2008 Ultra-Premium Tequila Vintage Reserve

Jose Cuervo International has unveiled the 2008 edition of Reserva de la Familia. This is the 13th edition of the Reserva and is considered to be a collectable masterpiece to spirit connoisseurs around the world for both its superior taste and uniquely designed packaging. Each year since 1995, the Cuervo family has selected a renowned Mexican artist to paint the new handcrafted wooden box for its ultra-premium vintage Tequila — part of its continuing support for promising Mexican artists and local culture.

This year's edition features the artistry of Fernanda Brunet, winner of the 2003 Acquisition Prize, VI Bienal de Monterrey, Mexico. In addition to winning several awards and a double gold medal from the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Reserva de la Familia is recognized by industry experts as one of the world's finest spirits. Only a limited number of Reserva de la Familia bottles are produced each year, which makes this prized sipping Tequila a much desired buy.

Aged in new French and American charred oak barrels, Reserva de la Familia has a full, mellow taste that combines floral, agave, vanilla, nut and Cognac-like flavors and is typically sipped in a brandy snifter either straight or on the rocks. Each bottle is carefully assembled by hand, numbered and dated, hand-dipped in wax and then placed in the handcrafted wooden box. The 2008 Reserva de la Familia is expected to be available in most U.S. states in March for approximately $100 per 750ml bottle.

You can read more about it at the Avenue Vine site HERE, or on the official Jose Cuervo site HERE.

Rinspeed sQuba Submersible Car Concept

The sQuba is a unique car that can drive on land, on the water and up to 33 feet (10m) under water. The first step in the process of making a submersible car was removing the it’s dependance on air by using only electric motors. Power for the motors comes from lithium-ion batteries which also makes the car a zero emissions vehicle. Next the car was made air tight with a catch, the car has an open top, which means the passenger compartment is flooded when you're under water.

While underwater, the vehicle is powered by SeaBob jet drives that are housed in directional nozzles on the sides of the car. Three motors provide propulsion, one on land and the other two in the water. While under the water, passengers breathe from an integrated compressed air tank similar to those used by scuba divers. The open top of the vehicle is also practical, in that if something would happen while under water, the passengers can make a quick exit.

The car will be on show at Geneva next month, and there's no word on if it will actually be sold at some point, or if any more will be made.

Alpha Romeo 8C Spider

Alfa Romeo has announced that they will be showing the new Spider, based on the 8C Competizione model, at the Geneva car show. Alfa Romeo states that they plan on making only 500 of these, and rumor has it that they will cost somewhere in the $200,000 range. The spider has the same 450 HP 4.7-liter V8 under the hood as the 8C Competizione coupe. More from the press release:

"Alfa Romeo once again unveils its new models onto the world market at the Geneva event. Indeed, following on from the Alfa 159 and Brera in 2005, the 159 Sportwagon and Spider in 2006, and its Personalisation Programme going by the name of "Alfa Unica" in 2007, it is now the turn of the alluring Alfa 8C Spider. Undisputed centre stage on the stand, this new car inherits its coupe sibling's winning formula that shook the motoring world. Put together by Alfa's Centro Stile and production limited to 500 cars, this new open top immediately entices with that unmistakable "Italian elegance", a unique and inimitable style that hints at its typically sporty Alfa handling.

Under the bonnet is a powerful 8 cylinder 4.7 litre engine producing 450 HP, matched to a 6 speed robotic gearbox, the new Alfa 8C Spider is truly beautiful, powerful and rock solid, where its gracious lines and dimensions gel perfectly with typical Alfa Romeo engineering and drive-ability. Needless to say, alongside this attractive Spider is the Alfa 8C Competizione, the epitome of Alfa Romeo's innovation in the fields of engines and engineering, heightened competitiveness and continuous technological research."

You can see some more pictures of the car (in white) at the Jalopnik site HERE, or at the Alpha Romeo site HERE (has a long load time).
