The Metrokane Vacuum Decanter

Not a bad idea at all for those of us that like a glass or two during dinner, but aren't going to finish the bottle for a day or two. Here's the run down from the Metrokane web site:

Wine experts agree: pouring a bottle of red wine into a decanter before serving aerates it and improves its character by allowing it to “breathe.” Until now, wine left in the decanter had to be funneled back into the bottle to prevent spoilage. Now, with the V-1 Vacuum Decanter, you can have the advantages of decanting red wine with no disadvantages. Because you can vacuum-preserve the wine right in the decanter.

The V-1 Decanter, designed by Ed Kilduff of Pollen Design, was inspired by the Apollo Spaceship. Each decanter is individually hand-blown of the finest lead-free crystalline quartz. The Vacuum Stopper will hold the vacuum for days, and your wine will be preserved for the next serving.

The Decanter runs about $80, and you can read more about it at the Metrokane site HERE.

Depaz Rum

The Depaz Rum since 1651, so you know it has to have something going for it. Made from fresh blue cane that's grown at the Depaz estate on the island of Martinique, it's available in only limited quantities, and runs about $42 a bottle.Depaz was recently awarded the Appellation d'Origine Controlee for it's adherence to precise standards of excellence, and as one of Wine Enthusiast's top 50 spirits of 2007.

You can learn more about Depaz at their website HERE. It looks to only be carried in California, Florida, New York and Colorado currently, but the site does list out a number or bars, restaurants and retail stores that you can get it from in those areas.

The VRX MACH 4 Racing Simulator

The company VRX Industries has created an impressive racing simulator set up for hard core racing fans. The rig come is powered by four Microsoft Xbox 360’s that allows you to play the racing game Forza Motorsport 2. Three Sharp Aquos 37-inch 1080p HD LCD displays show you the front, left and right sides of your car, just as if you were looking out the windshield of an actual car, and a 4-inch LCD simulates the rear view mirror. It also comes with a force feedback steering wheel and of course the pedals. Sound is handled by Harmon Kardon AVR-144 Surround Sound receiver with  Bose Acoustimass 10 series surround sound system speakers with a subwoofer.  Normally, most rigs stop there, but VRX takes it a step further by adding in a 1500 Watt Tactile Vibration Feedback System, a 1900 Watt Tactile Power Amplifier, and a Virtual Wind System powered by 2 dual Honeywell fans.

There wasn't a price listed for this monster rig, but you can bet it's not for your average gaming enthusiast. You can check out the other specifications on the VRX site HERE.

Get Your Own Custom Beer Pong Balls

There's nothing to strike fear into the hearts of your opponents like stepping up to the beer pong table with your personal logo on the balls. To get those custom balls, you can go to Adam's Balls and create the beer pong balls of your dreams. A minimum order is only 25, the logos are in full color and the site says that they've soaked the balls in beer, rum, and grain alcohol for over a week and they still looked brand new. As for the logo itself, there equipment allows you to print anything you want on the balls (as long as it’s not copyrighted of course).

You can hit the site HERE to check everything out and put in your order.

The Hennessey Venom GT supercar

More details were released on the upcoming Hennessey supercar, including the new image on the left. They had already stated that its powertrain will be based on the 1,000hp twin-turbo 8.5L V10 engine from Hennessey’s Dodge Viper Venom, but according to the maker’s website there’ll be an option to bump that up to 1,200hp.

Hennessey claims that the Venom will go from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds with a top speed of around 260mph.

For more on the car, you can hit the Motor Authority site HERE.

Personalized Johnnie Walker Blue

This probably should have been posted before Christmas, since it would have made a great present, but it's still great for a birthday, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Groundhog Day, or even just a nice Saturday.

You can get your own personalized bottle of Jonnie Walker Blue, strait from the JW site. There is a downside though, in that it's not available in every state, so you'll have to hit the drop down box and see if your able to get it. At worst though, it might be a good idea for a little do-it-yourself last minute gift.

You can check the website HERE to see if you can get it locally.

The Sony Movie 21 Vegas Contest

The movie is based on Ben Mezrich's best-selling nonfiction book "Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions,". You can watch the trailer for the movie HERE.

Since most of it takes place in Vegas, what better way to promote the movie than give away a trip to Vegas to see the premier?

The winner and a guest receive roundtrip airfare for two to Las Vegas, two nights hotel accommodations, $100.00 in spending money and get to attend the picture's world premiere screening and after party. I would have liked to have seen them make it three nights and more money, but hey, free is always good. Plus, the after party could be really interesting.

The contest runs until 1/7/08, and since you'll be attending the movie premier if you win, you'll have to travel on a specific date, sometime around the end of middle of March most likely, as the movie comes out March 28, 2008. You can enter the contest at the Sony site HERE.

The Gamerator: Beer And Games All-In-One

There's been a couple of game machines like this, but few of them with a built in beer refrigerator. The Gamerator comes loaded with over 150 classic video games such as Defender, Centipede, Mortal Combat 1-3, Red Baron, and so on. It has a 26-inch flat panel display, two joysticks, a trackball and all the buttons you need to play the games. What makes it unique is that it also comes with a refrigerated interior capable of holding a pony keg of domestic beer, as well as a 5lb. aluminum CO2 tank. A tap is located in the middle of the machines front panel (kind of where you used to have to put quarters into the machine) and it also has two cup holders to make sure you don't spill your drink while playing.  To make sure you don't run out of things to do, each system now come with a a free one year subscription to GameTap's Gold membership providing you with online access to over 1,000 more games online.

The Gamerator will be ready to ship in January 2008 for $3,995, and you can read more about it at their site HERE.
