Jermain Taylor vs. Kelly Pavlik This Saturday

Might be a pretty good fight this weekend. It's going to be shown on HBO PPV, and is scheduled for this Saturday, September 29th, at 10:15 ET (odd start time) from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Here's the press release on it:

In the main event, undefeated middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (27-0-1, 17 KOs) from Little Rock squares off with Kelly Pavlik (31-0, 28 KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio in a scheduled 12-round championship contest. Taylor has successfully defended his middleweight crown against the likes of Bernard Hopkins, Winky Wright and, most recently, Cory Spinks since taking the title from Hopkins in 2005. He faces a tough test in fellow undefeated fighter Kelly Pavlik, one of the sport’s true knockout artists, who has registered 28 KOs in 31 triumphs as a pro. Following a spectacular knockout victory over Edison Miranda in his HBO debut last May, Pavlik will be getting his first chance at a title.

In the opening bout, rising phenom Andre Berto (19-0, 16 KOs) from Winter Haven, Fla. faces brawler David Estrada (21-3, 12 KOs) out of Miami, Fla. in a 12-round welterweight fight. Former Olympian Berto, who is only 23 years old, has become a fan favorite in the ring with his extraordinary power, crushing body attack and willingness to put himself in peril. The hard-nosed Estrada gained notoriety when he went the distance with pound-for-pound great Shane Mosley in 2005 and battled Kermit Cintron for ten rounds in a 2006 showdown; he’s coming off three consecutive knockout victories.

Indoor Wood Burning Oven

This isn't something you can buy, but if you're the do-it-yourself type, or have the money to get someone to do it for you, this would be a pretty nice addition to any kitchen with room for it.

This is a custom built fireplace and a dome bake oven combination, built in a circular shape. The fireplace is vented through the oven with two Finnish-made dampers to shut off the fireplace when the oven is in use. The door on the upper right was also custom made just for this project.

You can look at the site that originally posted this HERE, and it has several more pictures of how it was built. No idea what the total cost was on this, but it looks like it would be more labor intensive than anything else.

Your Own Riverboat Condo

River Cities is selling floating condos that will travel through the intra-coastal waterways of the U.S., from St. Paul Minnesota, to Port Isabel Texas. I'm not sure this would hit enough interesting places to make it worth buying a condo, but with 30 or more cities listed as stops, I'm sure you could find something to do. It appears that The Marquette, the first ship to be built, will be somewhat like a barge, allowing it to travel the shallow waterways.

The Marquette is billed as a floating city, and comes complete with a grocery store, restaurants, concierge service, a rooftop lounge, theaters, activity rooms, a library, hot tubs and pools, fitness equipment, walking tracks, and a rooftop chipping course. The condos range from "The Illinois" at 528 sq.ft. costing $299,000 up to "The Mississippi" at 924 sq.ft. costing $499,000. There are a few areas where you can get a custom floor plan, and I'm sure price depends on what you want in it.

You can read more about The Marquette at their site HERE.

Win A Trip To The Big Game

Alright, so you're not allowed using the actual name of that game, for the NFL, that I've heard is Super, without coughing up some cash. Which is why Hanes wants to send you out to the "Football Championship Game" held this year in Glendale, AZ.

You do have to play what looks like a slightly annoying game, but it might be worth it. When you finish, you can win an instant prize of an Apple iPhone, an iPod, or Hanes products. Plus, everyone that makes it through is entered for the grand prize.

The Grand prize winner, and one super lucky friend, will be flown out to Glendale AZ, put up in a hotel for four days three nights, get transportation to and from the airport and the game, and two tickets to the big game

The contest runs until Nov. 30, 2007, and you can play the game to enter HERE. The site has audio, so you might want to turn the sound down or off if you're at work.

Ferrari 360 Modena Limo

The world's first gullwing Ferrari limo was shown off at the annual European Limousine and Chauffeur Show in England this month. The modified Ferrari 360 Modena, that was commissioned by Style Limousines of Manchester, cost nearly $400,000 to modify. Instead of the normal limo seating, passengers sit in racing style seats, all facing forward, and access the vehicle via the 9-foot gullwing doors on either side. The car is also being billed as the fastest limo in the world, because despite having a 23-foot-long body, it can still get from 0-60 in less than 6 seconds and has a top speed of 170 mph.

You can catch more pictures of the car over at Luxury Launches HERE.

Win a bottle of Balblair 1989 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

ScotchWhisky.net is having a contest to win a bottle of Balblair 1989 Single Malt Scotch. Here's a little bit about it from their website:

Balblair 1989 is mid-amber in appearance with honey-gold highlights. A full-bodied malt with aromas of raisin, green apple and hints of banana and lemon. The American oak barrels, used in the distillate’s maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance. On the palate there are raisins and fruits with a rich spiciness leading to a long, complex and ultimately smooth finish.

You can enter the contest at their site HERE, and read more about the scotch at the Balblair site HERE
