The House Of Dreams Charity Raffle is offering a grand prize of a million dollar home, or you can take the $1 million dollar cash option. Tickets cost $100, and if you don't win the grand prize, you also have the chance to win one of five cars, or one of 2070 other prizes from iPods to LCD TVs.
The raffle is for charity, and supports the Children's memorial Hospital which was ranked as Illinois' top pediatric hospital and one of the nation's best by U.S. News & World Report. You can see their website HERE.
The raffle runs until on October 05, 2007 for the first round of early bird prizes, and November 16, 2007 for the grand prize, cars, and additional prizes. It's for a good cause, and there is a limited number of tickets to be sold (with 45% of them already gone), which gives you about a 1 in 15 chance to win at least something. You can go sign up for the raffle HERE.

Although they usually just do things that drive me nuts (like the cigar tax), it's nice to see that they can do something right.
The U.S. Senate passed a resolution, just before it adjourned, officially declaring September 2007 "National Bourbon Heritage Month," according to the Distilled Spirits Council. Resolution 294, sponsored by Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY), passed unanimously
"At a time when consumer preferences have led to a renaissance for premium bourbons, it's great news that the Senate has recognized America's distilling heritage by designating September as Bourbon Heritage Month," said Distilled Spirits Council Senior Vice President Frank Coleman.
Bourbon business is booming in the United States. Since 2003, high-end bourbons have seen revenue grow from $450 million to over $500 million, some 2.2 million cases, in the United States. High-end bourbon sales accounted for eight percent of total spirits growth in 2006.
You can read some more about the history of bourbon, and some drink mixes, over at the Avenue Vine site HERE.

German tuner Novitec Rosso will be showing off their modified Ferrari 599 GTB at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and it will go up for sale immediately after. The looks were changed by adding a new front lip, side skirts with larger air intake openings, side flaps and a new rear wing and bumper. The car also gets new 20in wheels at the front with larger 21in alloys at the rear. The engine gets 25 more horse power for a total of 645hp, which will give you 5mph more of top speed.
You can check out some more info at Motor Authority HERE.

If your like myself, and caught the first season of The Contender, you'll be really familiar with Alfonso Gomez. Although he lost to Peter Manfredo, one fight short of the championship bout, he's since capitalized on his minor stardom and is currently one of the better up and coming fighters, recently beating Arturo Gatti.
Jonny Oakley sat down with Gomez and talked to him about his life, and his quest for a world title. You can read the article HERE, and also check out Gomez's personal site HERE.

The company Modern Spirits produces several unusual flavors of vodka. Their main flavors are Black Truffle, Candied Ginger, Celery Peppercorn, Chocolate Orange, Grapefruit Honey, Pear Lavender, and Three Tea. They're also introducing a seasonal flavor this October which will be Pumpkin Pie. I'm not really one for flavored vodka, but this might be something for those that find vodka too harsh tasting, or maybe something unique for a party. If those flavors don't excite you, they can also customize one for you.
You can hit their site HERE to check out their site. They have do have some tastings, and also flavor pairings to give you some ideas on the actual flavor and what to drink it with.

I've posted about a few of these, and honestly I think I'd take any of them. Here's the information from the product page:
Asteroids. Centipede. Missile Command. Tempest. One hundred classic games return to life in this full size upright console. Unlike lesser imitations that are 70% the size, this console is the real thing: it uses the original programming that gave arcade games such a distinctive, groundbreaking feel, with all the lights, color, sound, and gaming action you remember. The console is made in the U.S. by the world-renowned Chicago Gaming Company, experts in arcade games for over 30 years, and makers of fine game systems for such names as Williams and Konami. This system is the same kind that has been tested in arcades for years, for true arcade-style play and feel. A crisp Wells Gardner 25" monitor (not a computer monitor) doesnt let a si ngle classic visual detail escape the eye, and real arcade controls, including two joysticks (remember those?), a 3" trackball, and multiple buttons lend true-to-life feel that will give you (not your 8-year-old) the upper hand in challenging one-on-one game play. A host of vintage Atari and Capcom games (100 in all, including the above-mentioned titles, as well as other classics like Battlezone, Millipede, Super Breakout, Ghosts 'n Goblins, and Street Fighter II) ensure plenty of challenge variety. An interactive menu (controlled via the joysticks and buttons) lets you customize sound volume, delete high scores, and even add future games as they are made available. The only difference between this unit and the games in the arcades i s you dont have to constantly feed it quarters or wait for your turn, because this one sits right in your own activity room, ready for play whenever you are.
The whole unit goes for $3,695.95, and you can buy one HERE.

There are those that love to travel and don't always have a companion to go with. Now, there are several alternatives for those that don't mind heading out on their own.
Tammy Weiler traveled a lot in her 20s and 30s, visiting Paris, Thailand, Brazil and Spain. During the day she didn't have a problem entertaining herself, but found dinner could be intimidating from being alone at a nice restaurant. This gave her the idea to start Singles Travel International which offers 30 yearly tours to spots such as Paris, the Caribbean and Africa for the solo traveler. The trips have a blend of scheduled things, free time, and dinner together with others on the trip.
Recently Abercrombie & Kent started "Signature," trips, that allow a single traveler to take part in the planned group events, or go sight seeing on their own with the aid of an A&K-provided private car and driver.
You can head more about the various groups over at the Forbes site HERE.

I'll admit that this is probably one of those things I might actually think about buying if money was no object, even then though, I'd have trouble parting with the $1 million this costs.
Watchmaker Richard Mille has created the Planetarium-Tellurium. This one-of-a-kind mechanical device replicates the movements of Earth, Venus, Mercury, the Sun and the Moon. Except for the mercury, all the planets rotate around the Sun and around their own axes to offer precise positioning. The clock also works as a calendar, showing the current signs of the Zodiac.
Mille enlisted the counsel of an astronomer-physicist to help ensure the accuracy of the clock. The mechanical system is so good it will lose 1 degree every 7.7 years regarding the axis of the Earth, but most of the other calculations, like the rotation of the Earth around the Sun, should be accurate within 1 degree for the next two million years.
The hefty price tag for this item comes not only from the work to build it, and one-of-a-kind status, but also that it's made from titanium, steel, brass, gold, silver, and red corundum.
You can read more about the clock over at Technabob HERE, or for a more detailed background, at the Horomundi site HERE.

Cigar Jack is running out of room for his cigars (lucky guy) and so he's giving some away. The contest is pretty simple, and you can enter up to three times. Just leave him a comment saying you're 18 or older, add the site to StumbleUpon and leave him your ID, or pop the contest into a post and make sure there's a trackback.
The winner will get two Arganese cigars from each of the three different varieties he has. You can go to the post HERE to enter the contest, and also read his review for the Arganese Double Wrap Chairman HERE. The contest ends on September 12, 2007.

I'll admit that NASCAR really isn't my thing, but if there's a trip to Vegas involved, sign me up.
This contest is being given away by Hershey, which seems to be an odd mix, but seeing as how huge NASCAR is I'm not surprised. The grand prize is a round-trip airfare for you and a friend to Las Vegas, a three night hotel stay, two tickets to the 2008 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race and $500 cash. Not a bad weekend at all.
You can sign up for the contest HERE.
