The Lenovo IdeaCentre 600 PC

I tend to build my own rigs, though if I was going to buy something, this might be at the top of the list at the moment. Here's the details of the new Lenovo IdeaCenter 600 from the company:

IdeaCentre A600 All-in-One Desktop

Lenovo brings consumers the next generation of desktop computing with the IdeaCentre A600 – Lenovo’s first all-in-one desktop. The new, sleek IdeaCentre A600 all-in-one features a 21.5-inch frameless screen, and provides discerning space-conscious and style-conscious users a modern design that measures only one inch at its slimmest point, making it the slimmest all-in-one in the industry.

For the entertainment enthusiast, the all-in-one offers a true Hi-Def experience featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio screen for cinema-like viewing and support for 1920×1080 full HD resolution delivering outstanding image quality. The integrated speaker system includes a bass sub-woofer and Dolby® Home Theatre™ audio certification, while the optional Blu-ray player completes the home cinema experience. Users can also take advantage of a digital TV tuner for watching and recording their favorite TV programs. Users can opt to include the Microsoft Vista Media Center for easy recording of TV programs and interactive navigation between videos, music and TV programs.

For gaming enthusiasts, Lenovo developed the first-of-its-kind 4-in-1 optional remote controller. It is the first to bring PC users the ability to play games using the remote control’s ‘motion drive’ feature, which controls on-screen objects according to the movement of the remote.

Unlike competitor’s remotes, the Lenovo 4-in-1 remote controller can also be used as a VOIP handset3 to make and receive phone calls over the Internet, similar to a typical cordless telephone. The remote also serves as a media center/TV remote, and with Microsoft Vista Media Center users can use the controller to operate DVDs, movies and TV. Additionally, the remote also functions as an “air mouse” so it can be used to operate the cursor on the screen, eliminating the inconvenience of using a wired mouse.

At the core of the all-in-one is a powerful desktop computer with choices of Intel® Core™2 Duo processors, optional ATI Radeon™ graphics card technology with DirectX10 support, up to 4GB of fast DDR3 memory for improved multitasking, and up to 1TB (1000GB) of hard drive space for storing hundreds of videos, music and other documents. Equipped with the latest high-performance mobile processor technology, the all-in-one runs whisper-quiet even when performing intensive tasks.

The IdeaCentre A600 all-in-one offers several connectivity options including high-speed WiFi, a 6-in-1 media card reader, side-mounted USB and FireWire ports with additional USB ports on the rear of the panel. The all-in-one also features VeriFace™ facial recognition technology which allows users to use his/her facial image as the logon password.

Las Vegas Contest

This contest isn't exactly aimed at guys, but as I always say, it's still Vegas. Here's the run down of the trip from their site:

An exciting addition to The Strip, THE PALAZZO has some seriously posh amenities: an enormous Canyon Ranch spa, 12 restaurants from star chefs like Mario Batali and Wolfgang Puck, and an upscale shopping mall. You could win airfare for two, a three-night stay in a luxury suite, and dinner for two at Restaurant Charlie by Charlie Trotter, plus $600 in spa treatments and $1,000 to spend at The Shoppes at The Palazzo, which includes Barneys New York, Chloé, and Jimmy Choo.

I figure the dinner would be good, your significant other could spend all her time at the spa while you hit the tables, you could split the $1000 50/50, and everyone ends up happy. If you don't have a significant other, it's not like you have to actually use the $600 in spa treatments. If you're lucky, maybe it would be in the form of a gift certificate, and you could sell it off for some spending cash.

The contest runs until February 2, 2009 and you can enter it HERE.

James Bond Quantum of Solace Omega Watch

No idea how much Omega paid to have James Bond wear their watches in the movies, but I bet it was worth it.

Omega recently released the official Quantum of Solace watch. The limited edition watch is a version of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean model, that has a Quantum of Solace signature on the face with the outside of the dial features a Walther PPK grip structure pattern. The watch is water tight up to 2,000 feet, runs on Omega’s caliber 2500 automatic movement and has a 48-hour power reserve.

Only 5,007 of the watches will be made, and as much as I looked, I couldn't find a price tag for one of them. The model it's based on though will run you somewhere around $2,300, so I'm guessing it's north of that quite a bit.

Ohio State Is Trying To Kill Me

Why in the hell can't Ohio State win a big game?

On the upside, which is about the only upside to tonight Fiesta Bowl, they didn't get blown out. They did of course, manage to find a way to lose. In the last few seconds of the game even. Just drives me crazy.

I'd also like to point out to the Ohio Sate coaching staff, when it's 2:27 left to go in the second quarter, you have two time outs, on your own 48-ish yard line, that you should try and go for a touchdown or a field goal. Running the ball a few times and letting the clock run down is freaking terrible. Especially when you're going to be kicking off at the beginning of the second half.

And so ends another disappointing season.

Ohio State - 21, Texas - 24

The Zenvo ST1 Supercar

The Zenvo ST1 is the newest addition to wear the supercar moniker, and it deserves it.

The rear wheel drive, 6-speed ST1 has a turbo/supercharged V8 engine rated at 1,104hp. All that power will get you from 0-62mph is 3.0 seconds flat, according to Zenvo, with an electronically limited top speed of 232mph. Which probably means there will be an unlimited version at some point, you have to think.

The car weighs in at 3,020lb because of the standard supercar carbon fiber panels, and is a smaller two seater as it's only 15.3ft long, 6.7ft wide, and 3.9ft tall. Zenvo has also gone the extra mile by making the extras impressive for a high end car, such as making everything from keyless entry

to satellite navigation and power telescoping steering standard.

As far as I can tell, there's no word on a price for the car yet, but if you really need to ask, you probably can't afford it.

You can read more about it over at the Zenvo site HERE, or over at Motor Authority HERE.

Brandy Warmer

This is really your run of the mill basic set, but it's good if you don't really have a lot of Brandy or Cognac, and just want something for those rare occasions.

The metal base holds the glass over a candle, which of course warms up your brandy or Cognac for drinking and leaves your hads free to do soemthing else. The glass holds up to 9oz., which should get you about 4oz. of brandy per glass since it lays on it's side while being warmed.

Each set of base and glass will run you about $25, and you can pick one up over at the Wine Enthusiast site HERE

Bordeaux Brand Château Latour Estate For Sale

I enjoy Bordeaux wines, and this is a pretty impressive sale.

François Pinault bought the Château Latour Estate in 1993 for $150 million, and is now putting it up for sale. The Château Latour estate consists of 190 acres of Bordeaux vineyards, with 115 acres dedicated to making the Grand Vin de Château Latour.

Château Latour is widely regarded as one of the finest wines from the Medoc region and a case of the 1961 vintage fetched an impressive $170,000 at auction by Christie's in Hong Kong last month.

Pinault is seeking somewhere between $200 and $280 million for the estate.

Rare 1937 Bugatti Found In A Barn

Bugatti Type 57S Atalante is one of the rarest Bugattis, with only 17 of them ever made, and a quarter of them are housed in a museum in rural France. Image their surprise when the children of Dr. Harold Carr found one of them in their father's garage.

The car was originally owned by Earl Howe, first president of the British Racing Drivers' Club, and it changed hands several times before coming into the possession of Dr. Carr, who appearently mothballed it.

The car is set to be auctioned off in February at Bonhams' "Retromobile" auction in Paris, and estimates on what it will sell for are varied, but some say it could go for as much as $8.8 million.

You can read more about the car, and see some pictures of the Bugatti in it's glory years, over at the Autoblog HERE.

I'll try and keep an eye out for the final price when the car does sell.

The Raon Everun

If you find a laptop a little too big to carry around, but things like the iPhone and Blackberry too small to surf the web, the Raon Everun might be for you. Here's the details from the Dynamism site:

Dynamism is pleased to announce the Everun from Raon, makers of the Vega. The Everun offers an array of mobile features in an ultraportable package–all at a great price. The device measures only 6.7 x 3.3 x 0.9 in and weighs 1.01-1.10 pounds.

The Everun is so named because it achieves remarkable battery life of 7 hours (standard battery) or 12 hours (enhanced battery, +0.22 lb / 100g). Even halving these ideal manufacturer times with real-world use in mind, the device offers you a realistic one-charge-per-day experience. It's a great summer accessory for keeping up on your stocksproperties and checking emails over an iced coffee at the local café. (The Everun has integrated wifi and Bluetooth.)

One innovation that helps lengthen battery life and protect your data is the solid state hard drive. The Everun can be purchased with a 16gb / 32gb SSD or a 30gb / 60gb standard HDD, or both. Another cost and power-saver is the low voltage AMD LX900 600mhz processor. (Complemented by 512mb RAM].) This is not a machine for Quake, but it runs Windows XP Home and Office applications quite sufficiently.

The Everun features a QWERTY keyboard on the right of the screen, and function keys on the left. The device works in portrait or landscape mode, with easy screen rotation. (The keys are labeled at an angle to make them easier to read regardless of which orientation you use.) Navigate using the 4.8" wide aspect ratio 800×480 touchscreen or the integrated optical touchmouse and navigation key.

You can snag one of these for $700 over at the Dynamism site HERE.

Posting Suspended (probably) Until After Christmas

The Holidays are that wonderful time of year when everything goes nuts.

I'd love to be able to get some posts up over the next few days, but I just don't think it's going to happen. There's just way too much craziness going on. I won't bore you with the details, but I have more things to do right now than I have time to do them.

I promise to be back sometime shortly after Christmas with new posts. Until then, posting has been suspended until things are a little more under control around here.

I'd also like to wish everyone a happy holiday season, whatever that holiday might be for you. I also hope you get some great loot, and if you do, drop me a note about it in the comment section for this post.

Until I'm back (it'll be just a few days, I promise), just keep checking back here for all the new material.
